can we talk about how fucking inspired Teacher is an antagonist? like wildbow really just went "see this guy? who literally can't do anything special on his own at all? yeah he's one of the most dangerous people in the setting!"

it's so fucking clever! like the powers he grants in exchange for compulsive loyalty are all so low-key and unimpressive and that doesn't matter! he's not dangerous because he can shoot lasers or create extremely dangerous tinker-bullshit in his lair, he's dangerous on a macro-level, an organisational level, with a thousand loyal but clever thralls, all with powers that are minor but *real*. thinkers that would be limited and almost useless on their own cooperating to the point they can go toe to toe with Foresight, tinker-1s who can only see tiny slivers of hyperdimensional tech, but amass enough of them and those slivers cover enough metaphorical area they're able to mess with the fabric of reality
