THEY’RE SAT TOGETHER IN THE BACK OF THE JET. Janet leans against the backrest, eyes closed. It feels so good to sit down. To sit down, decompress, and not think about going into the field again till at least tomorrow.
A body shifts next to her, heat radiating into her space. Pink lips curl into a smile as Janet cracks open an eye. Carol sits next to her.
Letting her neck fall to the left, the blonde square in her her field of vision, Janet winks.
“Hey,” the pixie whispers. A smile lingers on her lips. An expression that hardly ever dampens, especially when in the company of the supernova sitting next to her.
“Thanks for coming,” Janet adds, shifting closer. The burnette looks up through her lashes before she presses a soft kiss to Carol’s cheek. “We make a good team. I’m not sure I would have recovered as well as I did without you.” Or feel like she could love again. Or find love. To feel whole. Jan’s heart had felt empty for so long. It clung to her like rot, threatening to consume her whole. But the spark of Captain Marvel had pulled her out of the dark and infused her heart with the light of a thousand stars.
Eyes shift to look at Carol’s lips, cheeks flushing and heart pounding. Janet brings her eyes back up to start into the depthless space of blue eyes. For an eternity, The Wasp could sit there. For an eternity, she could spend it with Carol.
