   “ Theoretically, just theoretically, if I had accidentally broken one of the kitchen cabinets while practicing a spell today … how mad would you be? ” Accidents happened, it wouldn’t be the first time one of them broke something around the apartment but it didn’t make it any less EMBARRASSING. To his credit, he had cleaned the various broken mugs and plates out already but what was left of the cabinet was still sitting on the kitchen counter, looking incredibly misplaced. “ I could try fix it with another spell but that might just backfire at this point. ”

“Not mad, just...” He couldn’t find the right word. Disappointed wouldn’t be right, he lived with a witch, it comes with the territory. “I dunno, definitely not mad, just negatively impressed? Yeah, negatively impressed. You know. Hypothetically.”  

Teddy looked at the wreckage on the counter and huffed out a sigh. “No, no more spells for you today, mister.” He picked up the cabinet’s door and examined it. “Shouldn’t be too hard to fix, actually.”

“You could still technically change your body mass and density if you wanted to, maybe not as easily as Jonas could but Skrulls could change themselves at will and since you’re half Skrull we know you have that capability.” He made a face at the end of Teddy’s reply but didn’t comment on it. Not going to open up that conversation since it’s none of his business what his best friends do behind closed doors.

“Okay, switching gears for a second. Bachelor and bachelorette parties– me and Kate don’t want to really split our friends up since we know you all love us equally so… We were thinking of a joint party? I personally think Vegas is a bit cliche and was wondering if you knew any off planet places that could be fun?”

Jonas. A name he hasn’t heard in a while. A name he missed hearing. 

    But that’s besides the point. 

“Hey, only half. I don’t know what I’ve got. I only just started shifting my organs around. It’s how I survived getting shot in the head. Oh, I can store my phone in my arm too, so... huh, maybe you’re right.” Teddy said. 

“I mean, there’s the new Skrull homeworld we’re building up, that has some amazing views. Little Chandilar is where Billy and I had our... sort of honeymoon, and it has amazing beaches. But Vegas is great too, I mean, that’s where I got married the first time.”

Well, boys, that was my first outer space same-sex Jewish wedding, but I hope it’s not my last.

“I mean you’re right but still it wasn’t a bad idea.” Eli rolled his eyes and shrugged his shoulder. The differences are stark as can be but he was just thinking out loud here. Sometimes he didn’t want to always be the one thrown around in the middle of battle. He may have peak physical strength and durability but he’s not immune to head trauma and permanent damage. “You can also make yourself smaller if you wanted to with those Skrull genes of yours, dude. If Steve can lift almost a thousand pounds then I can for sure throw you at a bad guy.”

“We can just switch it up? Take turns on who swings who? Call it… Topsy Turvy?”

“I’ve never really made myself smaller, that’s Cassie’s thing.” Teddy pointed out. “Although I probably could... but I’m Hulkling, not Ant-Man-Ling. But you’re right, I never really tried. I’m not trying right now, either, so don’t get your hopes up. Maybe Billy and I can practice...” He tapped a finger to his chin, not quite realizing the implications of that last sentence. 

“Hm. True! I’d be down for that.”

I've been thinking a lot lately about how the Young Avengers spent a lot of time as unsupervised daft teens with superpowers, and how often team training probably devolved into absolute nonsense like this

Also this is far from perfect (still getting used to the new tablet tbh) but I'm not sure I will ever draw anything better than this bit of the original sketch:

“I mean that wouldn’t be terrible but have you seen Spiderman on TV where he webs up criminals and throws them around like a yo-yo? We could totally do something similar. You would just hold my ankle and spin me around while I smack enemies.” The rule of don’t imitate in real life doesn’t apply to them since they have accelerated healing factors. “Wait. How come I’m the one that’s mostly getting tossed around here? I can still pick you up.”

“That’s Spider-Man, I’m Hulkling. I’m cooler, greener, and gayer.” He pointed out. “But yeah, I could swing you by your ankles, if you really want.” Teddy was still hung up on his idea, but still.”Hey, aren’t you only peak human strength? I’m a pretty big guy. Plus, I’m the King of Space. You can’t just be swinging the king of space around willy nilly, you know.”

Well this was an unexpected surprise. It wasn’t often he got his husband to sit on his lap anymore, they usually sat apart on joint thrones. He couldn’t complain though, how could he? Teddy grinned as Billy played with his hair. “I’ve always got a minute for you.”

“I’m just chalk full of good ideas, what can I say?” Eli laughed loudly, returning the punch playfully and smirking a little. “I don’t see why not? If he can explode buildings then he can probably imitate Sonic. We should probably test his abilities out one of these days. Hey– what if we had a move? You and me? You could… swing me around by the ankle and I could knock people out with my shield? I am a living weapon, sort of.”

Teddy thought for a moment. “What if I used you as a battering ram?” He held out his hands, picturing it. “Like you hold your shield, or just your head, and I hold you kind of horizontal and bash you into people.” 

    He was being completely serious. 

“I think that’d be pretty cool.”
