Diesmal gibt es Wareniki (вареники). Die vegetarische Alternative zu den Pelmeni wird mit Kartoffeln gefüllt. Dazu kocht man Kartoffeln ab, zerstampft sie, würzt sie mit Pfeffer und Salz und mischt sie mit angebratenen Zwiebeln. Außerdem werden Vareniki etwas größer gemacht als Pelmeni und sie werden auch anders geformt. Ich mag sehr gerne dieses Zopfmuster - das verhindert, dass sie aufgehen und sieht auch noch sehr dekorativ aus. Nachdem sie einige Minuten mit gekocht haben, gießt man sie ab und mischt sie vorsichtig mit angeröstetem Weißbrot und Butter. Dazu gibt es natürlich Schmand!!!
