This Winter Sangria is a festive and flavorful drink perfect for cold weather gatherings. Pomegranate, blood oranges, and apples infuse the wine with seasonal freshness, while warming spices like cinnamon and star anise add depth. It's a delightful balance of sweet, tart, and aromatic flavors.
Ingredients: 1 bottle red wine. 1/4 cup brandy. 1/4 cup orange liqueur. 2 cups pomegranate juice. 2 blood oranges, sliced. 1 apple, sliced. 1/2 cup pomegranate seeds. 1 cinnamon stick. 2-3 star anise. 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup. Club soda or sparkling water, for topping. Ice cubes.
Instructions: In a large pitcher, combine the red wine, brandy, orange liqueur, and pomegranate juice. Add the sliced blood oranges, apple slices, pomegranate seeds, cinnamon stick, star anise, and honey or maple syrup. Stir well to combine and dissolve the sweetener. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight, to allow the flavors to meld. Before serving, add ice cubes to the pitcher and top off with club soda or sparkling water for a bit of fizz. Stir gently to combine. Serve the Winter Sangria chilled, garnished with additional fruit slices if desired.
