I was born after the war, so all I’ve ever known are the stories. Whispered between the survivors, passed down from those who fought and those who hid. They tell us that it began long before anyone realized—a silent war, one we had already lost before the first battle was even fought.My dad used to work for the UN Council of Extra-Terrestrials. He never told me much, but I’d hear him talk with my mom late at night, when they thought I was asleep. He talked about strange signals, about how we weren’t alone out there. Humanity had been reaching out for years, experimenting with ways to communicate with life beyond Earth. And we succeeded. But they didn’t come as friends.

“They heard us,” he said once, his voice shaking. “And they’ve been watching ever since.”

That’s when it all changed. I didn’t understand it at first—no one did. Then the news came. First in whispers, then in screams. The people from the other side had come. Not aliens like we imagined, not little green men with ships. These were something else. They looked human, but different. Pale, hollow-eyed, moving in the dark like shadows. They didn’t speak in words, only low chants, a hum that you could feel in your bones. It made the air feel thick, heavy, like it was pressing down on your chest.

We tried to fight them. The world’s armies threw everything we had at them—tanks, jets, nukes. But it didn’t matter. Their weapons fed on the very thing we thought would destroy them—radiation. We were only making them stronger. In two years, they wiped out entire cities, broke our defenses. They only hunted at night, slipping into our camps, our homes, when we were most vulnerable. By the time anyone woke up, it was too late. People said they came from a place like ours, but not quite. A mirror world, a darker side of reality. No one really knew how they got here, or why. But the stories said they took people—women, mostly—and brought them back to the other side. No one ever returned. My parents... they never told me what happened to them. But I know they’re gone, just like the others.

Now, it’s just me. The war might be over, but nothing is really won. I’ve heard whispers of a portal. People say it’s how they came here, and maybe, just maybe, it’s how we can stop them. I have to find it. It’s my only chance to fix everything, to find out what happened to my mom and dad. I think that’s what they wanted too. They were always talking about a way to make things right. A way to undo what had been done.They never said it out loud, but I could feel it. The weight of their silence, the way they looked at me before they disappeared. They knew I’d have to finish what they started.

And I will. I’ll stop them. I’ll reach the portal, or die trying.

O que o Pantera fez no início da década de 90 foi de tamanha relevância que transformou o mundo do heavy metal e influenciou uma figura do porte de Rob Halford, que ficou espantado ao ouvir a banda numa sequência de shows onde abriram para o Judas. Tal influência é perfeitamente constatada quando Halford saiu do Judas e montou o Fight criando um som altamente panterizado. É este álbum, "War of Words", que completa hoje 27 anos. Lançado pela Epic Records, contando com o grandioso Scott Travis, que o Halford que não é bobo nem nada trouxe do Judas, é um baita disco com elementos que por vezes remetem ao próprio Judas só que cadenciado, pesado e com um forte groove, como já dito, influência do Pantera. É quase uma hora de um grandioso show da banda. Riffs pesados, uma sonoridade densa, que contrastava com o novo visual, bem longe do couro e correntes. A vibe aqui era bermuda e camiseta. Comparativamente com o "Painkiller" a estrutura das guitarras dobradas é completamente diferente, além da presença maior e com mais destaque do baixo, e de na maior parte dos sons Halford não cantar tão alto e optar por tons mais baixos. Ou seja, além de buscar uma nova sonoridade, o Metal God buscou uma nova forma de encaixar seu estilo a este som e ficou tudo excelente. Este disco mostra bastante da veia criativa e inquieta de Halford que após 20 anos mantendo a mesma estrutura musical, resolveu fazer um som muito diferente optando por uma nova legenda, o que é um grande acerto pois se lançasse pelo Judas seria bom do mesmo jeito, mas certamente seria disco maldito e criticado, por ser totalmete fora da curva e nada ter a ver com o DNA priestiano. No fim é uma grande sacada. Discaço!
