Magic Beasts (WIP)
There's many magic beasts in this world, and there's many animals. In order to be classified as a magic beast, the creature must have one or more of these traits:
Exceptional intellegence
Magic abilities
Exceptional strength
Exceptional senses
The Ability to cause natural disasters
Have a historical or biological reasoning (ie. a curse or genetic anomaly)
For example, a rabbit is not a magic beast. A lucora, however, a beast that strongly resembles a rabbit, IS considered one. Lucoras are so similar to rabbits, that are only able to be identified by their eyes having an extra pupil. Lucoras are exceptionally intelligent, able to use logic and to solve crossword puzzles. Many can also sense danger ahead of time, which is why Fire Brigades often keep them around.
Green is SAFE to Humans Blue can be dangerous, but is mostly neutral or able to be tamed with ease. (May defend themselves if threatened, but typically leaves people alone if they're left alone). Purple is dangerous, but if you can fight or you're skilled in magic/trained in taming, you should be fine. Orange is extremely dangerous, and only people in large groups, specially trained people, or the Mage Corp should engage. Red... make peace with your god.
Lucora:
Looks like a rabbit, and comes in all colors that normal rabbits would. To Identify them, look for a second pupil.
Intelligent
Able to sense danger before it happens, leading them to be trained to alert for fires.
They enjoy puzzles, veggies, and some enjoy T.V.
HATE their backs being touched, will bite you.
Immune to fire (not smoke).
Found in forests.
Warpbug:
These are medium sized bugs, about the side of a hummingbird.
They have six legs, and have three body parts: a head, a thorax, and an abdomen. They have a horn on their head, which is how they defend themselves.
They're typically a light blue, and have a painful sting known to paralyze most. The paralysis varies from creature to creature. Nymphs are immune to the venom.
Warpbugs have an ability to teleport around, making catching one difficult. They have been recorded to teleport up to ten feet at a time, though they get exhausted after a few teleports. As they age, teleportation abilities wane.
Their venom that allows them to teleport is used in a lot of potions.
Diet of primarily small insects, though sometimes they'll kill birds and bats. Hunt through teleportation and paralyzing their prey.
Found in forests.
Smokehound:
A large wolf-like creature that can turn into smoke. While they used to be a threat to anyone crossing their paths, humans domesticated them. Now they're incredibly friendly.
Omnivores, eating either meat of any kind or wood. Many stores have a woodchip treat section for smokehounds, and apparently each wood type tastes different to them.
While they come in typical wolf colors (black, white, grey, brown, etc.), their smoke varies based on their personality and emotion. Well cared for smokehounds will typically be a yellow color when in smoke form, while aggressive and dangerous smokehounds will be red or black. Many guard hounds will be blue, for loyalty, or red when enraged.
Getting trapped in a smokehound's smoke can cause lung damage.
One of the more popular pets.
Wyvern:
Wyverns are well loved creatures, considered smaller dragons. Most of our assumptions on dragons come from Wyverns. Typically around twenty feet or so in length from head to tail, and their wingspans are about ten feet on average.
They're carnivorous, requiring a lot to sustain themselves.
They do have basic elemental magic, and observed types include: ice, salt, water, warp, sound, fire, storm, ground, and nature. Other types exist, but they're either extinct or endangered.
Live in various habitats depending on their types.
Wyverns are often tamed, though they require a lot of training to trust and obey their owners. Wyverns take respect very seriously, and if they feel their owner isn't worthy they may even attack them. Wyverns can sense dishonesty, self-doubt, bravery, and deception.
If you can gain your Wyvern's trust, they're incredibly loyal.
Surprisingly, Wyverns are great with children. Some veterinarians and beast care experts suspect it's because children are often honest, wearing their hearts on their sleeves.
Wyverns are one of the most illegally traded magic beasts, and many are used in illegal races.
Most are used for the most popular sport in Halos: Wyvern racing.
Dragons:
Extremely dangerous, avoid at all costs. While they typically keep close to their homes, in an absence of food, they'll raid farms or villages, taking anything they can get their claws into.
Incredibly rare, and only six have been spotted in the last one hundred years.
According to what's known, there's a variety of them, each attuned to their magic element. There's ice dragons, fire dragons, warpdragons, salt dragons, and sound dragons. There may be other types, but none have lived long enough to tell about it.
Entering a dragon's home is a death sentence, and your only hope is to pray it doesn't see you.
Diet is presumed to be solely carnivorous.
Only known dragon locations confirmed is in the Valas mountains.
