I recently got a puppy too! She’s also a little nervous around new people and other dogs but the trainer told me that the more I expose her, the better off she’ll be in the long run.
I saw the puppy picture you tagged me in!!! She’s soooo cute!!!! And yeah, exposure is so important for puppies!! Ours is already much better with strangers, but we’re still working on strange dogs. She isn’t too happy with them yet!

How did you acquire Tucker? I’m looking into getting an emotional support dog and I’ve been looking at several companies who said they would train the puppy for me. But I know some people adopt a dog like at a shelter.
Sorry, didn’t see this until now!
I adopted Tucker from someone who needed to rehome their pet shortly before I actually signed him up as my ESA and moved into the dorms. Him being a German Shepherd (and also just the way he is lol), we formed a really tight bond very fast and he has been by my side ever since. Literally.
I did not adopt him from any service that trains/matches you with Emotional Support or Service Dogs. I am sure some of these services are awesome though! But as with anything (especially with adopting a pet), it is important to know what you are looking for specifically in a dog or ESA and to make sure you background check any service you might be looking into getting a dog from. Tucker happened to be trained by his previous owners, but when I decided to adopt him I was willing to put in the work to train him and work with him if he needed it. If you do not have the time to train a dog yourself or are unable to due to any other reason, I’d recommend a service where they train a dog for you! But if you don’t mind training your own dog, then any option would work for you I think. Like I said, it’s about finding what works best for you!
