My scroungecraft warping mill has one thing that I deeply love and makes my life easier. See, when I made it, I made it exactly 1 yard around. That means when I want to take it off for warping it becomes so easy to do. How easy? Let me show you.
Let's say I want a 5 yard warp. That means each 5 strands on the warping mill is one warp length. But how do I get that off the warping mill?
Start with running a thread under every 5th strand for a 5 yard warp.
Then gather all those strands together. Make sure to tie them together tightly.
Cut them free!
And then pull to unwind!
And now you have a tied group of 5 yard long strands for your warp!
When I'm all done cutting the strands off the warp I'll count the strands I cut off, add them to the pile, and realize that there's more strands than there are heddles. And yet another delay appears as I need to order more heddles. Someday I might actually be able to weave, I'm getting closer!
