        Head jerking upright from its place in the rig’s engine, Nux had nearly missed the call to attention. Engines and mechanical tasks were where he found himself truly at home. A place of comfort and getting lost in the fine tuning of it all. But he knew when to withdraw - with one lingering glance - eyes bright and hands held to his chest in the salute of v8. IMPERATOR. Dry lips split into a wide, manic smile as the war boy’s hands slapped onto the newly “cleaned” grill. 

      “ -- Imperator Furiosa. Honor, ” he croaked out, swallowing thickly as his head darted to the side to stare at the vehicle and then back to her. Ever eager for a scrap of acknowledgement. “ It’s done as you need it. Slit said they had to get more juice to get it roaring - monster-like. No juice needed. Just cleanin’ and valve fine tunin’. A crack from last run - rock from the messy roads I think . . . But -- but it’s good now. Better. ”

       ALTHOUGH  SHE  TRIES  NOT  TO  LAUGH,   kat  still  cannot  help  it.  because  john  bender  is  one  of  the  few  people  she  can  relate  to  (  and  because  watching  someone  stand  up  to  her  teachers  is  always  hilarious.  )  glancing  at  the  boy,  kat  smirks  and  offers  him  a  nod  before  leaning  against  her  chair.  most  people  were  afraid  of  him,  but  not  katerina.  ❝  you  see,  mr.  morgan,  i’m  not  the  only  one  having  trouble  with  the  purpose  of  the  assignment!  ❞
