For every “⏳” I receive, my muse will openly talk about a bit of their backstory.
“Have you heard of the Broken Constellation, Argo? Militant, fanatical Light-worshipping zealots, once upon a time. The pitiless heart those in the so-called Golden Empire who sought the eradication of darkness at any cost rallied around.”
“Even after the constellation shattered from internal strife - a schism of different factions of its faith, I believe - the crusades it could muster and send after even a rumour of my kin were a sight to behold. Perhaps had they been less convinced that the Nightmare King was merely a distraction used by their ‘true enemy’ the Fall could have been less severe. Who knows.”
“What I do know is that the last of their Shining Crusades was mustered at the eve of the Fall - against me. They sought to entrap and imprison what they thought was a mere envoy of the Void Court - low ranking enough for their tricks to work on, yet aware of where the Seat of the Royal of Singularities was located. A pity for them that they had no idea who they were dealing with in truth. Why would I have sent some weak fool to oversee the last days of an entire Age long-expected to fall? Why would I have trusted something like that in the hands of another?”
“I admit, I didn’t face them alone. A full Shining Crusade would have been a tall order for even me to eradicate without losing my avatar in the process, specialised as they were in hunting down my kin, and there was no guarantee I’d have a new one before what was to come. For the same reason, I’d had to choose my allies carefully. I am still somewhat surprised the battle itself garnered as little outside attention as it did, with chosen guardians of the Void Court clashing with a Shining crusade.”
“Then again, where it took place is known these days as the Hydra Void, so perhaps any potential witnesses had become collateral damage instead.”

Send me “Spar” for our muses to be sparring partners! Ari’s ears flicked and she had just turned her head to the playful roar of ‘SPAR!’ b
She bounced like a rubber ball when launched, a bewildered look on her face as she landed on all fours, horns and spines deflated until she stuck her thumb in her mouth and blew hard to 'reinflate' herself. Shaking and snorting she hunkered down on all fours before letting out a real, bone shaking roar and charging, horns down.

“What do we have here? The little lamb.” Oh she knew damn well who she was talking to-- but pushing her buttons was too much fun to resist.

“Yanno, I never understood why people put horns on helmets. You’re just givin’ your opponent a handhold, after all, unless you plan to headbutt ‘em to death.”
RAM (ha)
Send me RAM for a random memory from my Muse’s mind!
“I seem to have underestimated your will, terrestrial.”
A singular cut at his clavicle, a two-pronged spear far too large for its wielder pierced through and the hole oozing black blood like treacle into the surrounding gaseous mist. His opponent much worse for wear - a tiny thing, its golden scales flecked with blood and made even smaller by the fresh, seared-shut stumps of the limbs on its right side.
The supposed chosen of an insignificant, long-dormant constellation. A fighter that chose to stand in his way as he told the planet it was his. By its choice of weapon, it had been forwarned by whatever dregs survived the fate of the neighbouring system.
A pity one of his blades had sliced deep enough to force the little thing to turn star-fire on its own throat, destroying its voice. It doubtless had words to say.
“As per agreement made - even when you knew not the right words - you’ve impressed me. Your realm is safe, under my influence, for as long as you live.”
Alarm, pain, outrage. A delicious cocktail. He chuckled, amused if tired.
“Did you think the agreement perpetual? No, if you die from wounds sustained, so will it. Those that will not submit must prove their worth in other ways.”
He pulled out the spear - it was painful, in a distant kind of way, but not a weapon that left lasting wounds on one like himself. Still, that it had pierced him spoke much of the materials here, and of the will of the little... empress, was it? that had wielded it.
“You will be found. And I will come back, perhaps in a year, perhaps later. You have until then to gather a showing of what worth your realm might have for me.”
He caught a slight nod as he turned to leave, the dark eyes of his now-vassal filled with pain and a complicated mix of defeat and triumph.
from here with @warrior-princess-aries :
Ari’s shoulders and smile dropped into an unamused pout. “I was understanding that this arrangement was still secret until the ceremony’s completed, and was trying to keep up appearances.” “Or would you rather me start calling you endearments like Snookums, Dearest, HoneySicle?”
“Please don’t.” The cloying, disgusting fake-saccharine that oozed from those... nicknames was...
Ew.
“When were you ever polite enough that whatever what was wouldn’t be suspicious?“
“If I may be so bold, my lord, but is this really necessary?”
knights and royalty sentence starters
“A silly question. Would I have you doing something entirely unnecessary just for my own amusement?”
“...”
“Actually nevermind. I would. I absolutely would. But this time it really is necessary.”
