Applewood Winery, in Warwick, New York is one of the few places I've signed up to be a member of their wine club, where they ship wine to your door and you get in free to events and stuff. Their wines are very yummy! And they have great events, like chocolate festivals and BBQ and Blues, etc.
They have the following wines:
Seyval Chardonnay
Vidal
Wawayanda White
Riesling
Summer Fields (peachy and apricoty)
Apple Blossom Blush
Cabernet Franc
Merlot
International Red
Blackberry
Harvest Time with cinnamon and cloves
Tastings are $6 per person. Live music May thru October every Saturday and Sunday from 2-5 pm. They have a cafe!

#235: Drink Wine at Demarest Hill Winery & Meet the Owner
#235: Drink Wine at Demarest Hill Winery & Meet the Owner
Of all the wineries in the Albany/Mid-Hudson New York areas, Demarest Hill Winery makes my Top 5 list. (A summary for readers following along...I like Hudson-Chatham best for the taste of the Baco Noir, Robibero Winery for the view/atmosphere, and then there's this place!)
Demarest Hill is located in the garage of this little old Italian man, Francesco, who just might be the funniest and most adorable grandpa on the planet. The winery has wines, liquors (i.e., grappa, brandy, sherry) and even some balsamic vinegar, etc.
They say that the tasting fee is something like $5 for a taste of 6 items of your choice, but to be honest, if you get Francesco, he'll just keep plying you with samples (I think once I had like 18 samples for that $5 fee!) until you find something you love, and then you'll walk out of here with a armful of things.
Once I stopped in here, and was having a tasting with a younger gentleman. Francesco walked in and yelled in his thick Italian accent, "Don't sell them anything! All the wines are awful! If you don't buy, leaves more for me to drink!" HA!
The website has a list of all their normal list of wines/liquors/etc.: http://www.demaresthillwinery.com
Read about all the great places to visit in Greenwood Lake, NY.
I went back to my hometown yesterday, Warwick. I thought it'd be a good idea to play this song as soon as I hit Sugar Loaf. I almost started crying as I was driving and wound up going out of my way to the lookout by the Bellvale Creamery.
It was weird. I passed houses that I knew, where people I knew once lived. Many of them have moved away since. The stores are different, the people are different. I barely knew any faces at the high school. The only people I remembered were SOME of the seniors and the teachers I had. The halls I used to walk are no longer the ones I remember. They've been painted, redone, everything.
Autumn has come to my hometown.
