The Glacier Ice Bar at the Sagamore
Put a visit to the Glacier Ice Bar on your schedule! 18,000 pounds of clear-crystal ice is one of the “hottest and coolest lounges” in the Adirondacks. It will be open in January (2017)! Put it on your calendar! It has barstools covered in fur to keep you dry, and it offers magnificent views of Lake George! January 20-22 Friday: 4pm - 10pm Saturday: 12pm - 10pm Sunday: 12pm - 4pm January 27-29 Friday: 4pm - 10pm Saturday: 12pm - 10pm Sunday: 12pm - 4pm Read More: http://www.thesagamore.com/ice-bar-lounge/

2016 Annual Santa Speedo Sprint in Albany along Lark Street. Props to all the runners that arrived early and had to stand around in the freezing cold! (Photocredit: capitaldistrictny)
Ragnar Adirondacks 2016 finisher medals (plus the Tongue Mountain and Noreaster medal)
Ragnar Adirondacks 2016
On Sunday hubby and I ran in the Saratoga Palio race as prep for our upcoming Ragnar! Despite my slow overall time, I did actually do better than my 5k last week, shaving four whole minutes off my time. Hubby placed third overall in his age group. Are we ready? (Note: It was absolutely ASTONISHING how many more half marathoners were signed up than 5K runners! There were a tremendous number of half marathon runners. Props to all the strong, healthy people who got out there to run in the sprinkling rain!)
Ragnar Adirondacks 2016 Only five days to go! If we finish...it’ll be a miracle!
Getting ready to run!!!
Wow! So many new followers!
Wow! All weekend long, I keep getting notifications of new followers of this blog. Is it because I mentioned the Ragnar Adirondacks race in two weeks? What a mystery! For anyone that is reading, our Ragnar needs 1 or 2 more strong runners, hopefully to balance out my slow running time! If you are interested, send me a message with your email address! In the meantime, we had a good time at the Malta 5k! We even ran into some friends there unexpectedly! Were you there? Hubby was pleased with his 8:49/min mile pace. I was just pleased I didn't pass out....and I actually finished! Woot!
Racing
I’m signed up for the Ragnar-Adirondacks race at the end of this month! In prep for that, I’m running in tomorrow’s Malta 5K race. Burn rubber! *zoom!*

“Mystery Rooms” or “Escape Rooms” are popping up all over the country, and the Capital District area has several. I highly recommend checking out the Tru-Escape rooms (www.tru-escape) because the quality of the room set gives a full immersive experience, and the puzzles are just a lot better written than other similar adventure rooms locally.
How it works: You get locked in a room, and you have 60 minutes to solve all the clues, riddles, and puzzles to try to work your way out of the room. It’s a live-action adventure game that relies on your ability to sleuth your way out of a room. If you get stuck, the game masters can send you hints, which will appear on a television in your room.
Room themes change, although perhaps the Tru-Escape rooms don’t change quite as frequently as other local adventure rooms. That’s because the rooms have much more elaborate sets, which honestly makes it a much more enjoyable experience. The good news is the Tru-Escape is looking to open many sites in the Capital District over the next two rooms, so if you want to keep puzzling, you can do so at a range of convenient locations. (I know that locations will be opening soon in Queensbury, Troy, and Clifton Park, as well as the current location in Rotterdam.)
I got to peek at a few of the rooms, and I highly recommend checking out the Serial Killer room. I tried out the Secret Agent room, and it was really fun!
Tru-Escape cane be found in the Via Port (formerly known as the Rotterdam Square Mall). www.tru-escape.com.
Photo of the Day: A lake nestled next to a mountain range. Mist and beautiful light add up to make a quintessential Adirondack sunrise.

It was a beautiful morning on Round Lake this morning. The fog was rolling off the water, and the sky was pink as the sun woke up. Coffee helped take the chill out of the air....
Thanks to the Schenectady County Historical Society who posted this picture on their facebook page today. There are some amazing historic buildings in Schenectady, NY!
The historic Saratoga Race Course opens in just about a week! If you live in Saratoga, you know what that means.
Teeheehee! I love a good GOT meme!
