"100 miles of heaven and hell" ...yeah that's accurate. Wasatch 100 was everything I hoped for and more than I had actually managed trained for this summer š But with mostly good weather, somewhat smart strategizing, and a bit of determination it was a success for both me and @bretski1. After running almost 3/4 of the course individually, we connected back up to push and pull each other to the finish. Lots of blisters, bruises, dirt, sunburn, and smiles. I can't wait to do it again. But the other thing I loved about the race in Utah last weekend was the family and friends who were so generous with their time and energy supporting me! Giving me a ride to the airport, driving me around SLC, letting me spend the night at their house before the race, driving me to start at 4am with fresh baked cinnamon rolls, giving me some detailed race secrets and tips, offering to find me a local pacer, sending me supportive texts/DMs throughout, enthusiastically waiting to cheer me at the finish, happily helping me back to their house in my fugue state, hanging out with me while I lounged about recouping, driving me to the airport, and finally delivering me back home. Too many to name, but you know who you are and you're awesome. š So while I may not have had a "crew" for this race, it very much took a team effort! Joe actually looks pretty good here but that is not true. Heās wearing 2 down coats and 3 blankets around him, sitting by a heater. This is after he got off the ground. He just layed down he was so sick. The fast can fall hard. He rested for about 3 hours, took off and just couldnāt do it. Dehydration and inability to hold anything down made him dizzy and horribly nauseated. Add the rain and he was freezing. Not a good trifected. But he did get almost 70 miles going faster then some of us run downhill. So proud of you Joe!
