her father. mother is ever-near, ever-watchful, mother knows too much. she follows andromeda with quick, sharp eyes, corrects each misstep with words quick and firm. (and andromeda has never been enough, neither perfect lady nor so bold as to transcend). but with her father there is a stillness, a measure of space. he lets her sit in his study while he works, rarely scolds, thinks her mischief funny (her mischievous moments are cunning and clever, and he sees a slytherin in her long before a ragged old hat slips over dark hair).they are not close  - - by the very fact that she is no son, only the second of three girls, he does not speak to her of business nor anything of much meaning. but there is an understanding between them, unspoken but there nonetheless.
