❛   i  don’t  know  if  you’ve  noticed  but  the  entire  french  quarter  is  going  to  shit.  ❜   the  city  was  practically  overrun  with  vampire  purists  and  he  was  sick  of  sitting  around  doing nothing. most  of  the  witches  were  attending  ivy’s  funeral,  while  kaleb  had  been searching  just  about  any  spell  that  could  help  drive  their  enemies  out  of  the  quarter.  ❛   i  wouldn’t  mind  a  little  help  fixing  up  the  mess  the  vampire  faction  made.  ❜

       she had always been a sight for sore eyes, a sight to numb any heartache;   and seeing her every time after she was brought back felt like the very first.   he was content, as close to peace as he could have been.   

      his only regret ?   he should have been there.

      a creak of wood pulled him out of his thoughts before he got in too deep.   he took breath, his muscles moved around as marcel shifted and the discomfort of remembering was gone, instead of that   —   hayley;   healthy, happy and alive, and a bottle of beer by his side.   while he didn’t come to the bayou often, he made sure to visit now and then, displeased as others could be because of it.   instead of a short thanks ( he still takes the beer though ! ), she got a reproachful look with a single corner of his mouth curling.   ❛ —you keep buying cheap beer and i’ll reconsider this friendship. ❜
