Abandoned house in Washington, Illinois. Didn’t go inside because, as you can see in the second to last photo, the floor is a lie and probably would have caved into the cellar (basement?) if anything so much as sneezed on it, let alone tried to walk on it. This was the first time I got to visit an abandoned place so the photos may not be so great, but the experience was perfect and I wanted to have something to remember it by. The setting was pretty quiet and peaceful despite the thunderstorm that had been trying to kill us, and I’m a sucker for anything overgrown. Not to mention that I got to share it with my best friend when I went to see her for the first time <3

Unfortunately I don’t know anything at all about the place, my trip wasn’t long enough to spend time researching it, but maybe next time I’m in the area!

All this anger about Paul Walker’s death being more of a big deal to people than [insert tragedy here] isn’t really, I don’t know, warranted? He was a popular actor. A lot of people knew him. He left behind a daughter and a lot of friends and family. I’ve never seen a single one of his movies, but that thought kinda hurts. All those people who feel like they’re missing something… even if they’ve never met him. Tragedy is relative.

So don’t get angry about people paying attention to Paul Walker’s death. Get angry at the people who are disrespectful of any loss or tragedy. People who joke in appropriately about the typhoon in the Philippines. People who laugh about all the families in my state of Illinois that recently lost their homes in a tornado. People who would say they’re glad that a man loved by millions is dead. Tragedy is relative. Please be sensitive to that.

grandma's house was barely missed by the tornado in Washington, IL - the maps show the demolition of structures just 4900' away - and her friend's house was obliterated.

and i cant deny that i bought a wedding dress - a proper, wedding-industrial-complex dress - that i really honestly loved last weekend, like i said id never do, because fuck the commercial bullshit wedding industry, but i did, and it's beautiful, but not because they want it to be

and it's a weird world when youre actively hoping your blood tests say you have have lyme disease, because it's the best of a half dozen outcomes

and i miss my baby brother so much and wear his ashes on my wrist like my own skin

his holiday is coming up. thanksgiving. we'll all be drunk and fat and alright. but we will miss him like the icicles miss the cold.

this is footage of a father and daughter in washington, illinois on sunday during the tornado. you can literally hear the house get torn to shreds. it's horrifying.

11/17/13 75 tornadoes hit 4 states..30 injuries, 3 dead..

I live in Pekin, IL. We got hit too, a few houses, apartments, and a cemetery we're destroyed..but it didn't take out the entire town like it did washington, coal city, diamond, and east peoria. we are all coming together as communities for those who lost homes, families we're broken apart, and lost pets. We will rebuild lives and homes at any cost. Keep Centeral Illinois in your thoughts..it's cold, rainy and people are still being found and still have no places to sleep, without food and water, and losing money due to these tornadoes. We love you washington, we're doing all that we can to help those in need.
