I guess we know who was in charge of security at the Capital yesterday.... 😂😂😂
More people need to be aware of this
Back from D.C.
We are safe, but not sound.
The whole experience was...eye opening.
Snipers on the rooftops. People telling us to ‘grow up’, while grown men shout, and threaten to attack a group of fourteen year olds for showing up with their ‘love trumps hate’ signs, and talk about peace.
Had people tell me ‘we were the hateful ones’. Received numerous murderous glares and idle threats whispered in low voices, but they were sure to be loud enough so that we heard them, all the same.
Had someone tell me that the wall Trump wants to build is the same as ‘locking my door at night’, talking to me as if I were a child.
There’s...so much more I will say, later, when I’m not mentally exhausted.
But I have seen firsthand the vast, great hatred that is seared into many of the Trump supporters, and I have learned this: there is no rationalizing with them, and shouting does not work. They’ve already stopped listening before your words even slip from your lips.
The riots were terrifying, too. Rocks thrown in cars and tear gas used by the cops.
But we’re safe.
I’ll post pictures later.
About what’s going on over in the USA right now
First thought: wow, if only there’d been a non-violent protest action against police brutality against black people... OH WAIT.
Second thought: looting and property damage is wrong, and I’m guessing that not all was done by hostile instigators, since people’s emotions will always get the better of them. But they are far less wrongs than harming or killing humans.
Third thought: speaking as a white woman, I can’t imagine a less objectionable slogan than “Black Lives Matter.” If that statement infuriates you, maybe you need to think about why that is.
George Floyd protests: Flames engulf 200-year-old church near White House
International News "This church has been standing in our city since the early 1800s. Please avoid the area," the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) of the District of Columbia said on Twitter.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the basement fire, which police said was intentionally set. The MPD said it is currently responding to multiple fires intentionally set in Washington D.C and its suburban neighbourhoods.

Protestors were also seen pulling down a flag from the landmark that opened in the year 1816 and popularly nicknamed the "Church of the Presidents" as beginning with James Madison, every president has been an occasional attendee of services.
In Washington, Fox News cameras were rolling as flames erupted in the newly renovated basement of the St. John's Church parish house; it was unclear exactly how the fire started or how much damage had been done to the church...Read more.
