...Cherry Blossoms around the Tidal Basin, Washington DC - 04/04/2017. Another of the main reasons I came back to DC was to see the Cherry Blossoms in bloom. There are many spots throughout the city where you can see the Cherry Blossoms, however, the most beautiful spot is unarguably around the Tidal Basin. The trees lining the waters edge, with a few of the monuments in the background, it is definitely a must see! Each year, the National Cherry Blossom Festival commemorates the 1912 gift of 3,000 cherry trees from Mayor Yukio Ozaki of Tokyo to the city of Washington, DC.
