I appreciate the idea of making people feel like they're doing something for a cause they believe in, but a petition addressed to the Supreme Court (about anything) is ridiculous. SCOTUS absolutely should not, can not, must not and ought not be deciding any case on anything but its own merits and the law. Public opinion should have no more bearing on a SCOTUS decision than what flavor coffee was bought by the 23rd customer of the day at a random Starbucks in Sheboygan, Michigan.
