we live and we learn I remind myself this every god damn day every day that I woke up and went to that class every day that my teacher looked down on me every day he told me I wasn't trying hard enough and that I needed to work more work harder every day that I met with my tutor and came home excited because I finally understood momentum and centripetal acceleration and how magnets work every day when I walked back into that classroom having thought I understood everything from the night before but that stupid teacher still treated me as if it were day one all over again every day when I sat there furiously writing notes trying trying trying to comprehend the numbers and letters that others so easily grasped when all I could do was watch them move ahead as I fell further and further behind we live and we learn and I will keep reminding myself that every god damn day

Destiny - I’m Done

Last night I spent 5 hours playing the final end game (at this point in time) Skolas Revenge and failed as I had to go to bed (bacause you know, it was 1am and I actually have a job and life). I got to Level 4 in about 2 hours, was stuck there for an hour before being picked up and taken direct to Skolas where I spent 2 hours and we got next to nowhere.

It is an unpleasant, unnecessarily difficult and lengthy for no real reason. Little wonder very few people wish to play it again once they complete it. That should tell Bungie something. Also for a task that easily takes 3 or 4 hours for a competent bunch, having no checkpoints is unacceptable.

I may not have completed it, and be desperate for the moments of triumph emblem but I am unlikely to attempt it again. In fact I am considering giving up completely. Much like Tumblr, when I think of the opportunity cost of the time spent on it over the last year it is depressing. This is made worse byt the fact that thanks to the RNG basis of reward I repeatedly receive the same low level items and have to purchase the better ones where the best don’t come up for purchase so grinding and receiving the same things over and over seems the only way to get them. i.e. never.

I’ve been excited for Destiny since it was announced. A very long year was spent gazing in wonder at the artwork and being excited for a revolutionary FFS - especially as COD was getting boring. It has been fun. It really has. I’ve been able to play with some of my best friends and my girlfriend when we live in different places. But now... I think I’m done

I will blatantly return. Probably later today. However this week has underlined that it is not worth the time and effort I’m putting in and there are other games to play and things to do that will have some form of effort / skill based reward.

While I’m here I’d like to raise the elitist nature of finding groups for end game content. to Bungie’s credit they are doing something about it but too late for those affected to benefit. Some kit precludes those with less time to dedicate or worse luck with RNG from taking part as the demands of groups become unattainable. The Destiny community is actually largely very pleasant - a fuck tonne better than COD - but this aspect is toxic and vile.

Too little too late from Bungie for me and they soon lose a massice champion of the game who has won them multiple new customers and would be an asset to the wider community (ie helping kinderguardians etc) IF I HAD THE FUCKING KIT that I should have by now given the time put in.

Time flies by way too fast... yet nothing has changed. oh wells.. I want to start a new year differently this time. I can't go through this again for another year. I just can't. I just don't understand what I am doing right now. I was better off living life the way I was a few months ago... now I am going through the same shit over again for a stupid reason. ugh. I hate this.

Day 2: How much have you changed overall in 2011?

Honestly, i feel like 2011 was sort of a wasted year. i think i'm saying wasted to make up for feeling like it was actually a decline. Unlike most people, i actually feel like instead of growing as a person i declined. This year was not that great at all actually. Spring semester of college was interesting cause i started to drink only to stop in the summer. Other than that i didnt do anything really besides class, homework and chillin. Summer wasn't really that special either, i mean i saw some people and stuff but it wasnt that great to me. Fall semester was actually pretty good. I met a lot of new people and enjoyed meeting them and getting to know them. I endured the hardest semester of school i've ever had because of ode's and physics and i still got a 3.47 gpa so that makes me proud. I guess i learned that even though ive made goals to stop slacking off and to do things differently and better myself i wont really follow through with them. I was extremely lazy all year and i look back on it now and im just like fuck...wtf was i doing with myself. Definitely did not make use of this year at all. I mean, i cant even really think of or recall anything really worth talking about from this past year. Kinda sad.
