Here's is a clip of my Butterflyport being used in the music video "Monotony" by Sofi Tyler. This was the lead song from the motion picture soundtrack for High Strung and was used to promote the movie before its theatrical release. I did all props and wardrobe for this music video. Here’s an old making of video for Butterflyport, the first automaton I made entirely on my own in 2012. The very first automaton I ever made as art was Watchbot City in 2011. I had the idea and created the sculpture but I didn’t believe in myself enough to do all the mechanical stuff on my own. So, this piece, was really a huge stepping stone. For those of you who don’t know, I started my art career making miniature robots out of watch parts that I called #watchbots. Watchbots are mechanical beings that gather their energy and technology from natural things. I imagined that their main transportation would be on butterflies. So I had a dream of a watchbot butterlyport and then recreated it in real life. I don’t make miniatures anymore because I always put way more details than anyone could ever notice. Seeing this video is so funny realizing how far I’ve come with my techniques, tools and even work bench. I do miss that mask though. I used it to keep my breath from blowing away the butterfly wings. Here's a video of my Watchbot Vivarium from 2014. Watchbot Vivarium is a place where Watchbots observe exotic creatures and plants. Watchbots are miniature robots I create from watch parts. In this piece there are twenty-five Watchbots with eyes of rubies, sapphires, garnets, amethyst, and peridot. Detail shot of one of the Watchbot butterfly riders from my moving sculpture called Butterflyport. With the use of a crank the butterflies move up and down while flapping their wings. This Watchbot has genuine Ruby eyes. The butterfly is adorned with watch jewels and gears. Here's a quick making of Butterflyport Video Clip. This is the first automaton that I designed and created myself in 2011. It's been on my mind lately. Since I've brought it to so many different events and its appearances in tv, film, and music videos it's arguably my most famous art piece. But there's so much miniature detail I wonder how many people actually know what it is they are looking at.
