one of the things that i love most about spike is that he’s actually really poetic! sure, his beauty effulgent stuff isn’t that fabulous but i feel like that’s because he’s being forced into conventional constraints like metre and rhyme. when he’s liberated from these conventional (and societal!) constraints by being turned, and his speech becomes a lot freer and expressive in distinctive and unconventional ways. and boy, “real love isn't brains, children. It's blood. It's blood screaming inside you to work its will,” and “every night i save you” and “they put the spark in me and now all it does is burn” spike really does have his poetic moments
