A single heartbeat drummed with fear as diamond blues twist around taking in the castle walls; every corridor and hall looked absolutely the same. The screeches of monsters pierced her eardrums, Sara Trantoul’s happiest day had taken the most frightening of turns. This day was supposed to be one of perfect bliss, not become a day where she found herself trying to flee a castle filled with horrific creatures. Her hand trembled whilst it felt over the stone wall and the other feeling the locked door; tears poured down her pale cheeks as her breath remained labored. Why, why was this happening? She was still struggling to grasp her mind around that the vampire had stolen her away for a twisted game. To lure her beloved Leon to his castle for a means of entertainment.
How could anyone be so cruel and heartless? Perhaps she truly was too pure and innocent as the people of her village proclaimed her to be. Sara only ever saw the good in people as her brows furrowed upward, the bride stepped back from the locked door with hope depleting. “Oh lord, I beg of thee guide me out of this castle and return me to my beloved.” She whimpers wiping away the tears; a chill ran down her spine when she hears the encroaching snarl of a beast entering the hall. She glanced over to see a grotesque monster that appeared to be a lion of sorts. Yet it had the strangest of tails and wings upon its back, instinctively she stepped back as it released a ferocious roar.
The young woman barely had time to react when it lunged for her and its claws struck her in her right bicep; a cry emanates from her when she went spiraling into the nearest wall before slumping to the ground. Pained cries parted from her lips as she laid on the ground, she was going to die here, wasn’t she? Had she done something to upset her lord in such a manner that he thought she deserved to be taken by a monster of the night and to be killed by him or his pets. Trembling nails dug into the cobblestone pushing herself up slowly, droplets hit the ground as she wept. She closes her eyes for but a moment thinking of her beloved Leon, she wanted to see him one last time if she was to be taken from this world.
The manticore’s snarl was the last thing Sara heard when the creature struck her again; this time into another part of the hallway wall but when she fell to the ground this time the floor began to rumble beneath her cascading inward and crumbling. A scream escaped her as she fell with the debris and she fell farther down into the castle; her body striking the ground many layers below and her world becoming consumed by darkness.
A groan escaped her, cerulean hues lulled open placing her hands forward Sara felt ground she winces when she scrapes her hand along a rock. The climate around her had changed as the air felt damp; she could smell and hear rushing water. Yet her sight was still blurred and she was slowly regaining it, fumbling to her feet she brushes off her dress before touching her forehead. It throbbed and ached; she felt moisture and looked at her fingers noting the blood. Sara staggers over to a small puddle of water to take in her reflection, she noted the cut on her brow and the bruise forming around it. Out of the corner of her eye, she spotted a door beyond a waterfall, hope danced to her heart as she saw an opportunity. Would this lead to her freedom?
Venturing forth Sara managed to get around the water to the door, she noticed it locked by strange means. What seemed like hours to Sara could have been mere minutes, but somehow the door unlocked to her surprise. Sara took a breath praying that she would find freedom beyond this door, Sara stepped into the dimly lit room and her gaze twists about warily. She was dismayed to find that this door did not lead her to beyond the castle, but her ears picked up the sounds of breathing alerting her of another’s presence.
“H-Hello? Is someone there?”
