Imagine if mermaids were real and followed like, h2o just add water rules, and the whole watertok thing happened, so it became a follow up trend to just add more and more shit to water until whatever magical rules declared it not water, like those baking sawdust into rice krispies treats videos
Those water flavor packets are usually 5-10 cal and sugar free so why do haters on watertok scream diabetes? it's so annoying. people have different illnesses and disabilities and I'm glad people are finding ways to stay hydrated.
If you don't understand something٫ it probably isn't for you!
I'm well aware that if I was a TikTok influencer in the "Water Tok" space, I'd have been adding my mixes. I don't use the app but YouTube made it seem like many of those influencers were insufferable--I'd hope I wouldn't be as bad if I had been one.
I'm currently having a 64oz bottle of flavored water that's my go-to. It's 8oz of Starburst Strawberry Sparkling Ice then you fill the rest up with water & ice, add 3 packets of Crystal Light Strawberry w/ Caffeine, 1 packet of their Lemonade--Shake well. [You don't have to use the caffeine version. I buy the boxes in bulk and I got a good deal for 12 of them.]
To me, it tastes like candy. It's pretty sweet but it's also like less than 30 calories for 64oz of tasty drink.
I don't like the Sparkling Ice alone and I happened to have picked up the Starburst Strawberry to try it. I love Starburst candy. While the drink does have the similar flavor to the candy, there's an offputting flavor with it... decided 'what if I added this to a strawberry mix?' and the rest is me testing how much of the bottle I needed to put into my 64oz bottle. I settled on 8-12oz.
I used to be a 'soda fiend' as my bf would tell me. He would say that "you're skinny now, but that soda will catch up to you eventually" and while I do workout quite a bit to enjoy my sweet tooth, I moved off of soda for the Winter since I work out less during those months. (Too cold to be soaking wet from the shower at PF or Y) and now that I've started to workout again once it warmed up, I really only drink maybe 2-3 sodas a week--compared to my 2-3 sodas a day just last year.
The problem I have with a lot of 'low-cal' drinks is the aftertaste and what sweetener they add to the mix. I loathe stevia. I dislike most sparkling waters like Celsius. Moving off of soda became so much easier once I started making my own mixes, by in large, using Crystal Light. I hate water on its own unless it's specific brands... a lot of water tastes too much like it was part of a pool filled with batteries. My tap isn't too bad but it's salty [not sure if it's the softener doing it or if it's just this city's water... or a mix of both.] The saltiness of our water does actually work in the benefit of making sweet drinks as salt is known to bring out the sweetness in foods (like in watermelon or in your average cookie).
So maybe if you try my mix, add a teaspoon or so of salt to the 64oz bottle. If you don't have a 64oz bottle, there's not many I'd recommend but my main one is by a company called AquaFit. TT Shop has it for like $20 and Amazon is like $23-35. It's pretty important to drink water--though 64oz is not exactly a proven amount. [a lot of foods we eat will have water and so drinking 8, 8oz glasses or 64-ounce bottle is likely excessive]
i sometimes see these middle schoolers walking home from school carrying these big ass stanley cups meanwhile when i was their age i had THIS motherfucker
People arguing if water is still water after adding a flavoring packet is the modern day ship of theseus paradox.
Help I think Im addicted to water whenever I don’t drink It for a bit I get headaches and feel really tired and depressed
So, TikTok Trend stuff:
Semi-Recently, there began a trend called WaterTok. Now, it is VERY controversial for some reason.
Basically, people make water. Not clear water, but flavored water. With zero sugar syrups and flavor packets.
Less sugar than even a "healthy" juice (like orange juice, apple juice, etc)
But because it has flavor, fruit pieces, and it's colorful and pretty, people hate it.
"This isn't water." "Just add lemon slices and call it a day, why all this?" Or straight up fatphobia and ableist comments.
Because WaterTok is mostly full of disabled and plus sized people.
Some preppy people have hopped onnit for aesthetics, sure, but overall, it's an accidental wellness trend.
People who are struggling to drink water, stay hydrated, or are trying to cut sugar intake by drinking these special waters. Each with a cute and unique name to add fun into water.
And even then, maybe it's just fun.
I will never understand people who hate on others just getting by.
