The scene changed from #cemetery to #seaport the very next night, but the rum flowed even more freely, as it has before w/ the @blackgotham crew and aboard the historic #Wavertreeship (built in 1885) docked at the seaport …. In addition to the warm brown and golden hued #British (#Guyana) and #Brooklyn-made sipping stars of the previous night (see prior post), two white/silver (yet full bodied) #rhums/#rums joined the #LiquidyLineup: Trois Rivières French Plantation Rhum (#100Proof) de la #Martinique and New Grove’s Silver Rum of #Mauritius Island … they both further broadened our horizons for how #deliciouslydiverse #sugarcanespirits can be. Re: story elements: I expounded on rum’s #Caribbean origins and global takeover, it’s notorious role in the #transatlanticslavetrade (well into the late 1800’s!), it’s use in spiritual ceremonies & revolt, how it can tell us the story of the #NewWorld, and the deep sea of nautical narratives it swims in (yes, including stories of #Pirates - of all genders and hues).
