Wavy bliss overtakes us as Superheart, a new project from musician Luke Batt, envelops us with glistening synths and nimble beats on debut single Count On Me. It’s obvious we can count on him when it comes to blissfully soothing, pastel gliding synthpop. It’s as if The Killers’ Brandon Flowers dove into light, airy 80′s new wave and jammed out with the likes of LANY. We waltz on cottony puffs of clouds to this ambient whirring heartwarmer, with no fear of ever tripping and falling. Superheart will catch us if we do.

Given the options of fight, flight, or dance all night, I think it’s pretty obvious which one I’d pick. And this jam would be the perfect accompaniment to that choice, too. Fight or Flight or Dance All Night comes from a new Norwegian project named Kommode, which means “chest of drawers”. These dashing “drawers” happen to be built by Eirik Glambek Bøe, well known for his role in on-hiatus indie pop duo Kings Of Convenience, and his buddy Øystein Gjærder Bruvik. As Kommode, the pair leads us into a luxuriant world of snazzy trumpets, zestful keys, and sunny beats. Balearic pop meets Italo disco on this lavishly intoxicating first single, one well worthy of dancing all night to. In fact, it might even be fine accompaniment for the most graceful and artistic of all fights or flights, too, so satin chic it truly is. Kommode has already prepped a debut album named Analog Dance Music for us, and it’s set to arrive August 18th via Brilliance Records. Find out more about the duo at their website, here.

Apparently, I totally missed out on this song when it first surfaced some months ago, but now that a video has dropped for the track, I’m firmly on top of its draw. Everything (Deathless) comes from newcomer JW Ridley, who linked up with producer Dan Carey (Bat For Lashes, Myster Jets, TOY) for the song. The gazey post-punk and wavy, hazy bedroom pop found on this addictive single is like a combination of Future Islands and Wild Nothing, a truly sublime cross considering my love of both those bands. JW Ridley’s debut single is out now and available via iTunes or limited edition vinyl, here.

The Drums- Me and the Moon

The Drums made a big hit in 2010 in the genre that swept the nation known none other than "super wavy indie stoner pop" well.... okay it's not called that but thats what i call it.  It's the sensation that swept 2010 (other than indie folk) that got all of you teen dreamers off of your feet to dance to the sweet reverb-y guitar riffs and electronic drum kits with the do do dos, the la la las, and whistling melodies (Brian WIlson anyone?).  That's it basically.
