While still retaining her hair whipping capabilities, the titular character of Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse begins the game with her many genie transformations depleted, and thus must navigate the world at large in an entirely new fashion. This is facilitated by the addition of Pirate Items, which allow the player solve puzzles, navigate areas, and defeat enemies with character-specific actions, which ensures that gameplay can proceed at a faster pace as the player isn’t limited by their current form in terms of what they can do.
