Such an epic evening at the Thirsty Monk last night. It was Pelly's birthday, featuring the Stables and Wayne Petti. If you don't know Wayne Petti, you should check out his stuff. He's from Oshawa and plays in an amazing band called "Cuff the Duke", and they're now Juno nominees :) Really great guys, and they always come back and play there hometown.
One of my favorite things about Oshawa was the vibe of the music scene. Not only is there a lot of great bands, but great people, that make you feel at home even if it's your first time there. This song is a tribute to Oshawa, and my favorite part has got to be when everyone joins in together and says "BUT I'LL BE AT THE BENSLEY OPEN STAGE!". Glen Bensley was the king of open stages and Pelly and Blasko do a great job of carrying on his tradition at the Monk with a really open and fun open stage night. No egos, no cliques, the way it should be. Thanks to Wayne for stopping in and playing this night! Go buy the new Cuff the Duke album!
