Wayne Swan: "We stand for jobs and growth. [...] They stand for savage cuts to public expenditure, to come back to surplus at any price and at any cost. [...] So we get this fiscal fearmongering from those opposite. They go around and talk our economy down, they exaggerate our levels of debt, and what is that all about? It's all about the fact they don't want to tell the Australian people what they would do if they were in power, which is a Newman-style austerity program which will slash jobs in the Australian community and make massive cuts to health and education."
Which all turned out to be pretty spot on, didn't it? Also, look at the way Anna Burke commanded respect; just by standing up, the entire room fell quiet. That's what you get from being a quality Speaker. Bronwyn Bishop at her most Dolores Umbridge could never command that respect.
And look at the way Christopher Pyne decides accusing Tony Abbott of being drunk is "vastly past reasonable". But hey, calling Bill Shorten a c**t in Parliament's all in good fun, yeah?
