         He hadn’t seen her in so long. Months. Foster couldn’t figure out what there was between the two of them. Their first encounter, the kiss, but it all seemed to come with the harsh feelings. He never was good with figuring out how to talk to people. That’s probably why he’d become a cop, it was easy to deal with criminals and never have to worry about their feelings.          The town still looked and felt the same. He’d been gone for so long but the second he started walking those streets again it all came flooding back. Little by little he wandered around until he found himself at a place he hadn’t seen in a long while. Ending up at her garage wasn’t his plan but there he stood. He second guessed himself like always but couldn’t turn back now. He knew he wanted to see her but couldn’t think of a reason why she’d want to. Still, he wanted to at least say hi again.          A reluctant hand raised to her garage door and tapped. Maybe she wouldn’t be around to answer. He could leave and say he tried.

           Emmy was in the yard clearing debris when he slipped by. She climbed to her feet and watched silently, not immediately recognizing the stranger. Though he got no answer, he lingered a moment. Her heart sank as he turned to leave. Then he noticed her and she forgot how to breathe. What does she say? what SHOULD she say? What will HE say? She chances a reluctant smile so as not to discourage him. She wasn’t sure how she felt. She wasn’t unhappy to see him.

           ❝ He’s so soft and plush―Oh my god! Thank you! ❞ Words allude her. Emmy had always been better at giving than receiving. Fortunately, the joy in her eyes speaks volumes. She is a terribly sentimental creature. However small a gift, she would certainly hang onto it and cherish it.

           ❝ Really, Quinn… I love this. Happy Valentine’s Day. ❞

           Emmy passes him the tin she’s had tucked under her arm. ❝ Devon got hers a little earlier in the week. I almost sent her over with yours, too, but figured it best I do it in person. Think I made the right call. ❞ She looks on as he peeks inside, sliding the card out from under the lid. ❝ I can’t always keep track of everyone’s preferences, so there’s a little of everything. Homemade cake pops, chocolate pretzels, all kinds of cookies, and some store bought chocolates to fill in the gaps. ❞ As extravagant as it all seems, Quinn has known Emmy long enough to know Emmy bakes. For every occasion or no occasion at all, Emmy’s home is an around-the-clock patisserie. Her gift to him and his sister is a LABOR OF LOVE.

            Emmy was CAPTAIN of her high school volleyball team. She was a member of the U.S. Junior National team ( the only high school junior on the team ), was named the Louisiana Player of the Year her junior and senior seasons, and was a First Team All-American. She led her team to three consecutive state championships and lettered in her sport, receiving ALL-STATE HONORS.

            Emmy has been an active Pokémon Go player since its launch. She’s TEAM INSTINCT.

            She collects PEZ dispensers.
