Lemme make one thing clear: Writers are self-aggrandizing bastards. What they do is not that hard. Most successful ones got lucky. The ones who consistently get lucky have just analyzed what works for them.

Here’s what steps I’ve gathered: 

1. Know yourself. 2. Know your characters. 3. Know your plot. 4. Know your story. 5. Combine your plot and story. 6. Know your themes and arcs. 7. Write. 8. Clean up your mess.
