I just wrote the most absurd sequence in HBYS, that of course has a narrative purpose, but mostly started as a self indulgent segment I personally find hilarious. Therefore it stays.

Breaking my own heart while I write the last chapter lady shut up shut up shut up TTT
We're so readyy! After many months of working in chapter 9, it's finally here.
Snippet!!
Under the magic of Helen’s potion, the cut was already starting to heal. But the bandage had stuck to the muddy concoction and the yellowish crust that would have been a scar. Peisistratus peeled it off with a pull, the burn making me wince. One round of the cloth around my arm, another pull. Once he had undressed the wound, he ran his palm over it, soothing the small droplets of fresh blood that had begun to gather. He poured new water into the basin and washed it carefully. “I can do it,” I offered. He frowned. “You won’t manage to bandage yourself. Just lay back and let me.” He was unwell; the chill sneaking through the window brought watery snot to his nose, his eyes heavy. And yet he was tending to me, his hands firm and warm.
Being able to push myself and have this chapter published is a huge deal for me (I'd usually just walk away).
The truth is, chapter 8 was written while ugly life got in the way and ended up being super challenging to resume this story. But I couldn't stop thinking of it, so. Here we are. All this is not to make myself self important, it's just that I want to celebrate it <3
Anyways, Chapter 9 will be divided in two. First part tonight!!
Chapter 11 wip :))
Next chapter of Here By Your Side/What's Between Pylos and Ithaca is on its final stages yayyy!
Here By Your Side/ What's Between Pylos and Ithaca update :))
Sorry it's taking so long again, but since chapter 12 is supposed to be the last one, chapters 11 and 12 are being written in paralel so I can wrap it up nicely and won't accidentally leave anything out.
In the meantime, enjoy chapter 11's plot in emojis:

Fellow Telestratus lovers:
So chapter 9 is getting extremely long at this point. And I mean like, twice a regular chapter which is. Long.
I summon your help once more to help me decide.
We have two options:
- Publish a humongous, emotionally AND action packed chapter with a fluff reward in the end.
- Publish two chapters: they'd go together. One ends in angsty cliffhanger and the other one is basically a date but they're friends but it's a date. But as friends.
Please help?
Chapter 9 of HBYS/WBPaI will be one humongous chapter
Chapter 9 of HBYS/WBPaI will be released in two parts
Chapter 9 of HBYS/WBPaI is Telemachus and Peisistratus' wedding (don't)
I wrote this bc I love it when I'm in this kind of awe for a friend.
My Telemachus is 100% my own reading of Odyssey Telemachus. Which means it may clash with the fandom image of him as a cute, permanently troubled teenager.
HBYS / What’s Between Pylos and Ithaca Telemachus has Odysseus’ fire running through his veins, shaped by his own history.
He has agency, anger, warmth, and vulnerability.
He’s rebellious. He struggles to sit quietly while others abuse him.
And he’s still too inexperienced to hold all of that together.
So a heads-up: Here by Your Side / What’s Between Pylos and Ithaca is not a damsel-in-distress story.
You won’t find a child. You won’t find a twink.
And as the story moves toward its end, he becomes even less of a “troubled teen.”
In the Odyssey, once Telemachus returns from Pylos, he stops trying to reason with the Suitors and starts thinking in terms of war. He openly defies them.
That’s the Telemachus I’m writing toward. It's perfectly fine if he's not your cup of tea, but it's the truest Telemachus I could write.
