what are your hobbies? where do you see your self in 10 years? sorry u just seem like a very interesting person :)) sorry is this is weird !!!!!
haha no way anon this is super cool! ur very sweet (and maybe a little misguided to think that i am interesting) but answering these is super fun, thank u!!
i’ll put it under the cut though, so peeps dont have to scroll forever (in case it gets long)
in 10 years ill probs be... still studying?? idk i’m pretty ambitionless, like i dont have any clear goals, but i have this vague idea that i want to be like. an eccentric academic w/ a few degrees in unrelated but interesting areas. maybe a useless but cool doctorate. idk what field i’d most want to go into, like atm im studying archaeology and zoology (which are GREAT and i love) but there are a bunch of other things i watn to know abt too. do you know how cool microbiology is??? i was learning abt it this year and its the most insane thing. and ive wanted to learn languages for EVER, and not just one, like a bunch of unrelated ones bc its so crazy to see how they work. my aunty did linguistics actually and that seems just. so cool. and then id happily keep going w/ my high school subjects like chemistry, and english lit, and aNCIENT HISTORY which i LOVEd and was so, so fun. basically the world is a Cool Place and i want to Know abt it and i like to pretend i live in a world where money doesnt exist so i can live my ideal intellectual life w/o worrying abt being Destitute and Unemployed forever
apart from that, i think 28yo me will have a lot of plants, and also a dog, maybe live with some friends, and that is all my goals
ok now hobbies? yikes this is gonna be big. my technique w/ hobbies involves like. ambitiously adopting a new interest area for 2months and then forgetting abt it for 4 years (+sometimes followed by enthusiastic readoption years later). see i dont ever actually abandon things, i just go through like? a sin curve of interest? whcih means im left with abt a million simultaneous unofficially-continuing hobbies that im still interested in, but not committed enough to ever be really good at. these include but are not limited to: knitting, terrariums, COIN COLLECTING (grade 6 me was REALLY into that for a while, like, w ow), whittling, spanish, writing (which ive not had much success at since the age of 7), etc etc. atm its drawing (which actually has probably lasted the longest out of all of them so im hopeful for that one)
on top of that i used to do this weird thing when i was a kid where id get. super, super focussed on one topic. usually an animal. and i’d research it INTENSELY for a while. first it was octopuses, then platypuses, then prehistoric platypuses briefly (based on 1 fossil skull, so that didn’t last long), then DOGS for a long.. long.. long time, then thylacines (which i still know an embarrasing lot of info abt, that was a Big One), which broadened into Australian Prehistoric Megafauna, and i think the last one before high school put an end to it ws feathers. like. not actual birds. just feathers in particular. i still have this massive feather collection that i was putting together to make a big art project, and ive been quietly adding to it since grade 7 and cant bear to throw it out. i learned all the structures of feathers and the names of all the different types, and i used to try to identify them like “oh look its an alular” or “i didnt hear that owl swooping bc of the feathers it has called Plummels”. i thnk that was the biggest hobby for primary school me. i got more creative in high school but little me was all into intense nature obsessions whcih i tried to force upon my poor,. poor friends. i am forever seeking penance for this
oh and i guess the last one is kind of music! i played viola and piano and harp in high school (w/ varying degrees of skill, viola was ok but piano was.. not). i always considered them more work than leisure, since they took up So Much Time, but since i cant really fit lessons around uni theyve kind of.. morphed into hobbies now i guess? which is weird! they used to be such a big part of my life adn now they’re just! little side things. but i like em. theyre cool. plus im in a string quartet and for that i get moneyyy which makes it the best kind of hobby right!
