It’s Rafa Marquez’s turn to coach. 🇲🇽
From captain of El Tri to head coach.
🇲🇽 1. He became one of Mexico’s greatest-ever players and leaders. Rafa Márquez was the face of Mexico for more than a decade. He played in five World Cups (2002, 2006, 2010, 2014, 2018) and became the only player to captain Mexico in all five tournaments.
🏆 2. He proved Mexican players could succeed at the highest level in Europe. Rafa wasn’t just successful in Mexico — he became a champion at FC Barcelona during one of the greatest eras in club football. He won two UEFA Champions League titles, four La Liga titles, a Copa del Rey, a Club World Cup, and more.
🌱 3. He represents the future because he understands both generations. Unlike many coaches who only come from the sidelines, Rafa understands the pressure of wearing the Mexico shirt. He knows what it means to play for the national team, compete against the world’s best, and develop young Mexican talent. His path from player to coach gives him a connection with the new generation of players.
