What Can Never Be || Fanni & Ines
She had spent far too much time in doctor's offices. And yet here she was again, driving her car into the parking lot. She circled the patient lot and finally found a spot near the entrance. It was good, she'd be able to run into the building fast enough without anybody seeing her. Rumours spread like wild fire, and she'd know that if she was seen heading into a doctors office, driving her own car. They would think the worst, which infact was the real reason. After she parked the car, she turned her gaze to her friend, sat in the passengers seat. "Thank you..." Fanni said, rather quietly. She was making the right choice by bringing Ines, she knew it. She began to trust her more and more everyday, and she seemed to be close to her siblings. Therefore she knew Ines wouldn't use her for some gossip to spread around. She gave her the biggest smile she could force upon herself. As happy as she was, that Ines was with her. She couldn't shake the fear of what was to be expected next. She couldn't be pregnant. She silently prayed that there was no child growing inside her, that the pregnancy test had lied, that it was a mistake. She can go back to her life of being a care-free Sophomore. "Please..." She whispered to herself, before taking a deep breath and unbuckling her seatbelt.
She quickly walked in to the information desk in the lobby. An elderly woman, directed them down the right hallway. When she reached the room, she walked up to queue in the nurse's station. "I'm so afraid, what if I am..." She couldn't bring herself to say the word, as she was turning back to Ines. She let out a deep breath, trying to calm her nerves. Picking up on the receptionist's cough, she glanced around the rest of the room and saw that she was the only one remaining in the queue. This was it. Stepping upto the desk, Fanni gave her name. After being pointed into the direction of the waiting area, she wandered over and took a seat in the middle somewhere. She was visibly shaking at this point. She didn't know what to do. She had too much on her mind to carry on a conversation with Ines, or anyone for that matter. Her thoughts turned to what may be growing inside of her. She closed her eyes remembering all the times she'd already spent waiting in rooms very similar to the one she was currently in. Flu, viruses, shots. She never thought she'd been waiting to see if she was pregnant. At only seventeen. Fanni took her hand and ran her fingers through her curled locks. She never did get use to the waiting.
Her eyes lifted to see a figure hovering over her. "Right this way, ma'am." The nurse said giving her a smile. Slipping her hand into Ines, and holding onto her for what seemed like dear life, she stood up. The three of them walked down the hall, the nurse held open the door to the office and they stepped inside. Fanni wasn't prepared for this. Taking a seat on the exam bed, she waited for the doctor to give her the results from the sample she'd given him a few days ago.
