‘ I don’t want to be afraid. ’
DEATH OF A BACHELOR STARTERS
enid pulls the younger girl into a hug, because she KNOWS that feeling. she knows it very well. but she also knows that this world is a terrifying place, and that there’s VERY good reason to be scared. but for enid, feeling fear makes her think she’s WEAK, and that’s the last thing she wants to be. she’s not surprised that judith doesn’t want to be afraid - she’s surrounded by people who are so BRAVE and she wants to be like them. at least, that’s what enid assumes it is. or maybe judith just doesn’t think she’s brave. even though she is. she’s so brave. enid’s proud of her, although perhaps it’s not her place to be proud.
“nobody wants to be afraid, judy. and let me tell you a secret - maybe we don’t talk about it, but we ALL are. we all get scared. we’re still human, and fear is natural. but sometimes you have to remember that this world WON’T get the better of you. you’ve gotta hold your head up high and remember that you’re JUDITH, the lil ass kicker that we’re all so proud of. and you know if you need anything, you have to many people willing to help. rick. CARL. michonne. carol. and ME.”
