Paradise Pier: Fun in the Sun for Everyone! by Tom Bricker Via Flickr: Security at Disneyland was pretty comparable to WDW, although on our night at DCA, we made the mistake of sitting around watching the final World of Color show (we had little choice since the Paradise Pier lights were off and that's where I planned on starting the shoot) which begins when the park closes, so we were disadvantaged by that, and only 10 minutes after we began shooting Paradise Pier, Security began sweeping us. To combat this, we moved more briskly than them (I swear, no less than 6 were following us through the Pier!) and quickly set up for shots. Consequently, most of the pictures I took had about 10 second set-up times and aren't the most brilliant composition-wise, but I was more concerned with building my catalog of DCA shots, so I was fine with that. We were assisted by a "wrong" turn into Golden State to take the scenic route to the exit. By the time we got to the front, it was pretty clear everyone else was long gone. When we kept taking pictures of the very front (prior to exiting), we were finally "informed" that the park was closed. Of the relatively "simple" shots I got, this one really stands out to me for some reason. Can't say I've seen this composition before. ______________________________ Our Honeymoon Walt Disney World Trip Report is now posted. Dungeon or Fantasyland by Tom Bricker Via Flickr: On this particular evening, as I walked from Fantasyland to the hub, I noticed how empty the Castle was. Not having photographed its passageway for a while, I decided to set up for a shot. Right as I set up, two hooligans appeared in my frame. While these hooligans were actually Vanessa Guzan and famed photographic hobgoblin Larry White, at the time I cursed my luck that such inconsiderate tourists ;-P would wander throughout my frame adrift, I soon realized who spearheaded the plan. All I can say is this: Disney photographer's beware, for if you thought Matt Pasant ruining your shots was bad, you have yet to encounter the menacing Larry White. On a note much more related to the shot, to me, the gothic look of the doors and gate pictured here make this area reminiscent of the 'dark' portions of the Castle. They are really quite the contrast to the murals and Fantasyland in the distance (in a good way!). Signature Shot - The Goofster! by Tom Bricker Via Flickr: Walt Disney World Resort Magic Kingdom Frontierland Splash Mountain One of my goals for this trip was capturing some better shots of characters. This proved to be a difficult task, and one on which I'm still working. That said, I was still pleased with some of the shots I got of Cowboy Goofy. I know I'm falling behind on my commenting on a number of photostreams, but it's been a busy couple of days at school. Tomorrow should be a lighter load, and I will try to catch up then! Sorry!
