At a certain point I think we as kinksters need to update our book recommendation lists for new players. Books that were written 20+ years ago are valuable for their historical relevance, but I don’t think we need to be introducing newbies with outdated information…. I genuinely feel like I’m in the minority here but I’m baffled that every kink 101 list is just book after book written in the 90s, maybe updated last in the early 2000s. What are we doing here.
#like those books have value and were AT THE TIME very amazing#but right now 20 years later…..#things are different#we know more#we speak about things differently#and especially for someone NEW#an outdated source is NOT the best way to introduce an entirely new culture#i think I’m also just personally miffed that we are all passing around the same four people who self-published their own books#and bc they were the only ones publishing#and they were big in the sanfran kink community#then their word is Law#they all went to the same defunct shitty college together#and then gave each other awards and cited each other as experts#in order to make each other seem like the ultimate resources#LETS MOVE ON PLEASE#sorry had to vent
