if yyyoooouuuu are someone who ignores texts you find discomfiting/unfunny/hurtful in the hopes that the nonresponse will dissuade the other party from broaching similar topics in future, you cannoooott ALSO be someone who fails to respond to texts at random (rejoining later with your own new topic) just due to busyness/forgetfulness etc. I mean. You CAN. You can do whatever you want forever. But if nonresponse from you means EITHER a) "got busy, forgot to reply" (fine and normal) OR b) "read message; hated it. please sense displeasure in my silence," then it's an agonizing 50/50 chance whether any skipped message is Chill or Not Chill. and DMs with you are a nightmare
