Okay okay I get why people are mad about Mike's arc and why the finale seems like not enough time to write out byler endgame in a satisfying way. I'm not a fan of saving confessions for the finale and stuff and it might've been better to drop it sooner smh, but I just thought about how they handled Jonathan and Nancy – their relationship has been wonky from the start of season 4 and the entirety of vol. 1, Jonathan was honestly just annoying and paranoid all the time and Nancy was being cold and snappy and pushed him away and they both were keeping things from each other until the very moment they landed in a seemingly-certain death situation. And I don't know about the others but it worked in my view – the way they confessed everything, I mean in the end it's just talking things out that have been building up for a long time and I believe that this kind of conversation is possible for Will and Mike too with all the finale armageddon. The way Mike readjusted himself when Will came out, I mean it clicked for him obviously. Now they just need to almost die so that they have a reason to draw back to the rain fight, the painting, not being able to say I love you to El, there's so many memories really, like more that for Jancy even, it will make sense smh. We have four seasons of groundwork, it's time to shoot the checkhov's guns, cannons, fireworks even. The rain will come again, I believe in it. Of course we love a queer ship becoming canon in the middle of a show to see the love clearly for the rest of it and it would've been amazing to have that here, but if that's not the case I will still love what we get. It's a superhero story, I mean that's always about crazy apocalyptic stuff standing in the way of friendship and love but the light will win. Maybe I'm just very optimistic but is that too bad?
