Imagine Carisi surprising you on your birthday with a puppy.

“What are we doing here?” you ask as the anticipatory pressure in your chest builds. Today had been filled with surprises from him for your birthday. First, a picnic in central park followed by dessert at that little bakery you’d been wanting to check out for the longest time, but never gotten around to, and now he had lead you right before the animal shelter. Was he really going to say what you think he was?

Carisi lets you stew in suspense for a moment more, a sly smirk on his lips before they break into a lighthearted smile, “Well, you did say you wanted a puppy.”

You can’t help the squeal that erupts from you as you jump to wrap your arms around his neck excitedly, “Really? For real? We’re getting a puppy?”

Carisi’s laugh sounds musical in your ears as he gives you a squeeze back before you let him go to glance at the shelter door with enthusiasm, “Yeah, we’re getting a puppy. Happy birthday, doll!”

The last time you’d seen Eric Northman you’d been a girl in love with a boy and your entire life in front of you. Now you were a vampire and he was sitting on his throne looking at you like he’d seen a ghost.

“It’s me,” you said, answering the question which was probably racing around his brain.

He forced a smile, his tone level as he tried to act like he wasn’t surprised,  “and what do you want?”

You eyed up the people who were milling around fantasia, “what makes you think I want something?”

“It’s been a thousand years and only today you decide to walk into my bar, I’m guessing it isn’t just to say hello.”

He was right of course, but you’d hoped to ease into the conversation a little smoother. “I want you to help me be free from my maker.”

Eric held up his hand, silently dismissing everyone else from the room. “Why should I do that?” he said, when you were finally alone.

“Because you loved me once.”

He laughed sadly, his eyes seeming to search for some far off memory, “that was a long time ago.”

“Was it?” you knelt before him, taking his hand in yours. “When I look at you now it feels like only yesterday.”

“Why did you never come to me before?” he demanded, his voice no longer hiding the emotion that was so clearly flooding his features.

It sounded so stupid now but it had always held you back. “I didn’t want you to be disappointed.”

Eric stood, his back towards you so you couldn’t see the look on his face. “I’ll help you but you’ll never be free.”

You stood, your brow furrowing with confusion and before you could ask him why, he turned to face you, his eyes holding contact with yours, “you’ll be mine just like you should have been.”

“The Bachelor? Really?” Dean huffed, walking into the room and finding you curled up on the couch in front of the TV.

“Hey, no judging allowed,” you said around a mouthful of popcorn, not even taking your eyes off the screen as you responded.

You felt the couch dip a few seconds later, before Dean reached over and grabbed a handful of popcorn from the bowl in your lap. He grumbled some more about how there were so many other shows that were more entertaining, but he didn’t get up or leave the room. In fact, after about fifteen minutes, he was talking out loud to the TV.

“Why the hell would he pick HER to go on an individual date?!”

“I thought you didn’t like this show,” you said with a smirk.

“I don’t. Now, pass the popcorn.”
