🖋 + Belly and Mabs 👀.
Send me a 🖋 and a character you’d like to see me write, and I’ll give it my best shot! || No longer accepting. I peaked at Loki's.
"Be serious, Belly." Mablung's heavy voice came, firm and gruff. A poor representation of the laugh so plainly brightening his face.
Said smile only widened as Beleg turned back with that charming grin of his own to playfully reply, "I am serious! When have you ever known me to be unserious?"
Quiet hung a moment. Mablung slowly tilted his head forward, staring at Beleg through his brow with an incredulous and judging expression. The quiet lasted only a handful of seconds before both elves erupted in laughter and Mablung slapped his hand down on Beleg's shoulder as they smilingly kept on walking.
A few meters down the foot-worn path, Mablung, having settled his lungs and eased out of laughter asked again, "What happened then?"
Beleg, who walked comfortably with the weight of Mablung's arm around his shoulders, smiled ahead. "Genuinely. I saw him gulped up by a great eagle!"
At this, Mablung's eyes widened in intrigue and awe. "And how did he get out?" He asked, less concerned as he was marveled by the idea of someone being swallowed by the giant birds and still living to not tell the tale!
Beleg shrugged nonchalantly, as if it were trivial, as if he were commenting on the weather. "Cut himself free from the belly out. He stunk like bile for days." His nose wrinkled as her remembered the journey home. Or at least the journey to first water. He would have puked if her weren't so amused. He remembered pulling a feather free of braided hair two whole days later.
His travelling companion may not have been in the mood or possession of pride enough to dish such sordid details but Beleg's eyes shone with a particular mischief as he regailed his dear friend with all that he had missed in his five whole days absent. '
Mablung listened with a keen interest and only mild disbelief. He trusted Beleg, an honest elf.. mostly. But he would not be half the captain he were if he did not question at least a little bit how much was verbatim and how much more was embellishments and artistic liberty.
Never the less they passed the time in joy as they trudged through dark and deep woods, thankfully the only danger was a muscle pulled in laughter by the time they met their journey's end.
