if you want to, could you talk a bit about how you portray Norman? Like his personality and background and stuff like that. You’ve probably talked about him before but if you did I forgot dhjdgdj
Oh gosh, sits here for a solid minute trying to figure out how to summarise norman polk lmao
I love the kind of… constantly amused quality Norman has? I feel like Norman should be a little bit sinister but generally mean no harm. He teases and he is not somebody who takes notice when it is Not The Time For Teasing and isn’t terribly careful with people who are sensitive, but ultimately he wants his little community of folks to be well, and gets his own sense of community from sitting on the outskirts of them, and I think most of the time that’s genuinely where he’s most comfortable. He has a lot of opinions but he kinda just keeps them to himself most of the time, unless you ask. He's happy to share what he knows, he just.... doesn't bring it up???
I don’t think, in canon, Norman ever would’ve done anything about the horrors at JDS; I don’t think he had some plan that he was gathering information for. I think he was just doing it. He’s just curious, he just wants to know. That Enneagram Type 5 trap of just, gathering information forever instead of ever actually taking on the challenge you were ostensibly gathering the information for-- HANG ON A SECOND IS NORMAN A TYPE 5… That… would make sense…
Anyway I don't often ponder background much for these guys, but every time I try to imagine Norman having a family I always think of it being mostly extended family. Like, Norman isn't your dad, he's your weird but beloved uncle whom you only see at family gatherings, who once said something absurd to you with a straight face and you believed him for like a year before you realised he was joking.
