Have you considered Savage Worlds? It’s a very approachable cinematic system. It’s one of these universal systems but there are a couple sci-fi settings for it (Slipstream comes to mind).
I’ve been seeing that recced around but I’ve mostly been kinda confused by it- I’ll dig into it a little more though, if you think it’s good!
Mostly I just want to get my friends used to juggling stats and narrating what they’re doing. Mechanics-wise, if we end up doing anything longer term it’s probably gonna end up being pathfinder cuz of our resident expert, so I don’t want to commit too hard to any one system, but we’ll have to see.
The plot I have coming together is mostly short and exploration based. Ideally we’ll get a good feel for everyone’s approaches, and have a decently entertaining time!
