idk you’re still down to answer questions about the sparks verse but if so, can we talk about luke’s late night drives to deliver hugs??? because this is everything to me
Always down to answer questions about the Sparks verse!
It starts Julie’s senior year when Luke doesn’t live near campus anymore. There’s a night when she’s really stressed about a midterm paper and Flynn can’t get her to leave the library, so Luke drives down with a cupcake. He uses the cupcake to lure her out of the library, and as soon as he hugs her, she starts crying and he just keeps holding her until she calms down. (Cue everyone else walking by the library nodding at him, going “Big midterm week mood.”) Afterwards, he convinces her to let him drive her home so she can take a break.
So that basically turns into a thing where, when studying is overwhelming her or she’s having trouble performing or grief is paying her a particularly hard visit, and Flynn isn’t able to get through to her, Luke comes and gives her a hug (and sometimes food). At first it’s Flynn texting Luke when she thinks Julie could use a hug, but eventually Julie reaches the point where she can just text him “hug?” when she needs it, and he’ll come over.
There are definitely a couple times when Luke calls her for a hug after he has fights with his parents. Julie always takes him out to a 24/7 diner afterwards for sadness pancakes.
