we run; we try, we push, we cry.
the maps of our lives plotted in
our mind's eye.
but time is a thief, a white rabbit,
an assassin in the dark.
she fashions a white picket fence
as a stake through the heart.
if you tell me to book it, we will
head for the river; the great illusionists
together once more. for a calm riverbed
still hurtles beneath the shore.
She shook her head in confusion. "No, Michael. Why are you asking me?"
"I was having fun," Michael replied, a smile painted across his face as he shyly looked back down at the brown paper bag in his arms.
The proposal was so odd that any sort of answer was caught in her throat. She ran through all the many reasons she should say no.
The press would see him go into her car. They had nowhere to eat it, and she sure as hell wasn't going over to his apartment. Fried chicken was probably the weirdest place for a first date. Was this a date? Was he asking her on a date? There had to be some handbook out there that directly stated against two of the biggest entertainers in the world getting fried chicken on a random Tuesday.
Michael interrupted before her thoughts could go any further. "We can have Vinny drive around the back. He can pick me up there five minutes or so after you go in."
He wasn't wrong. It could work. That realization was somehow worse.
She stumbled over her words, trying to form a reply. "Uhm... okay," she nodded. "That could work."
Michael smiled back. "So that's a yes?"
She reminded herself again that she should say no, but somewhere in the last twenty minutes of them record shopping, she decided to stop trying to convince herself she didn't want to.
"I guess I'm getting fried chicken with Michael Jackson right now."
Camille sat for a long moment, just watching him. Waiting for him to take it back. To say that he was just joking and it was utterly absurd to get fast food with someone he barely knew.
"Well, let's go," he urged, his hand pointing at the door.
Camille snapped back. He never said anything against it. She looked past him, back at the front counter. The teenage girls had thought they already left, and continued laughing and talking. She took a sharp inhale in, and finally followed outside, agreeing to his plan to meet him out back.
Vinny stood exactly where she left him, guarding the door, a small group of fans already outside in the snow, waiting for her. Vinny went to bring his hand to her back, guiding her back to the car when she stopped.
"Everything okay?" Vinny asked.
Camille stood on her tiptoes, whispering in his ear. She opened her mouth, looking for a rational way to put it, but closed it again.
"We're... uhm," she started. "Getting fried chicken."
Camille kept smiling and waving, though Vincent's confusion made it increasingly difficult to pretend this was a normal conversation.
He lowered down to her ear. "You're what?"
Camille continued to smile, but just by Vincent's reasonable confusion, her expression slightly faltered, obviously embarrassed.
"Fried chicken," she barely muttered. "With Michael."
Vincent slowly nodded, now leading her back to the car. He decided he could talk further in about thirty seconds in the car when they weren't in front of a mob of people.
He opened the rear passenger door, letting Camille slide in before shutting it behind her. Five minutes later, the car pulled around the corner of the back of the building, Michael already leaning on the brick wall with his hands tucked into his jacket pockets.
Vincent unlocked the door and Michael stepped into the back next to Camille. The car was completely silent for about ten seconds, before Vincent adjusted the rear view mirror, glancing between the two of them.
"...Will one of you explain?"
"Kentucky Fried Chicken. It's two blocks away," Michael chimed in, smiling back at the mirror.
Vincent readjusted the review mirror once, it now fully facing the back mirror, nodding.
"Alright," he stated, focusing back towards the wheel and pulling off of the road.
After the adrenaline had worn off, Camille finally sat in the silence. She was, in fact, hanging out with a random musician and getting fast food as a first date; if that's what this was. She held onto the paper bag in her lap, clutching her finger past the outline of one of the record's corners. The grip itself was enough of an answer to what was running through her head.
Michael noticed her staring out the car window, his gaze falling down to her hands. Her knuckles were practically turning white from her fingers curling around the bag in front of her.
"You'll bend the corners," he said quietly.
Camille blinked, so pulled from her thoughts she wasn't even sure she heard him speak.
"Huh?"
"The records," Michael pointed. "You'll bend the corners if you grip it like that."
Camille let an airy laugh out. "Oh," she croaked, looking down at her hands and now resting them in her lap.
Michael watched as she rested her hands in her lap. Even then, her fingers never quite relaxed.
"I didn't think you'd say yes," he admitted, trying to pull her from whatever thought took her.
Camille took a sharp inhale, moving her head to look back out of the window. She wasn't looking at the city though, and instead at the reflection inside the car of Michael watching her.
"Yeah," she quietly laughed. "I didn't either."
"Well, I'm glad you did."
She smiled, and just within a few seconds, the tension was right back. Before either of them could think of something else to talk about, Vincent pulled into the parking lot. He parked, shifted the car off, and turned to look between them both in the back seat. Their bodies were so far from each other he could've been convinced there was some kind of forcefield separating them.
"So," Vincent said. "What am I getting?"
Camille turned to look at Michael. "I've never been here before, what's good?"
Michael's face lit up. "Seriously?" he asked. He turned towards Vincent again and listed off enough things to feed a family of four.
Vincent nodded, scribbling the order on the back of a receipt before leaving the car to go inside and locking it.
The lock sounded a click after Vincent locked the door behind him.
Camille laughed, and finally broke the ice. "Who is going to eat all of that?"
"I didn't know what you'd like!" Michael laughed. "You'll just have to try everything."
"Everything is literally half the menu," Camille shook her head, her shoulders shaking as she bent over giggling.
"I was hungry."
"You've said that," Camille replied, a smile tugging at her lips.
"I still am."
"Where does it all go?" Camille asked, looking down at his figure.
Michael smiled, glancing down at his own frame. "I dance a lot," he lightly replied.
After they both finished their last huff of a laugh they sat for a second in the silence. Michael scooted closer, just slightly, but enough to snap the tension between them.
"How have you never had Kentucky Fried Chicken?"
"I grew up in Los Angeles," Camille shrugged.
"You are aware there's still fried chicken in LA, right?"
Camille looked back, a small embarrassed smirk on her face. "I've never really had any fast food. My mom never let me," she shrugged, scanning around the parking lot behind the dark tinted glass.
Michael stared at her for a long moment. "Not even McDonald's?"
Camille just shook her head.
"Burger Chef?"
"Nope," Camille smiled.
Michael's eyes widened more and more after each disapproving nod.
"My mom used to say I'd make me fat," she huffed a laugh. "Anyway, we had a cook at home, so it wasn't much of an excuse."
Michael stared in disbelief. Partially from the fact that Camille had never had a real burger or fries, but also that a grown woman would say something like that to her child.
Camille examined Michael's shock, trying to make her previous statement seem less harsh. "No but—It was okay! It's a funny story to tell now. I don't think I could ever complain about having a private chef."
Michael's expression softened. "I don't think kids should have to worry about things like that."
For the first time since getting in the car, Camille didn't have a quick reply. She shrugged, trying to brush it off.
"I survived," she stated, almost matter-of-fact. "Besides, I'm making up for lost time."
Michael titled his head. "Meaning?"
"Meaning I have twenty years of fast food to catch up on," Camille giggled.
"Well, we've got time."
Camille looked over at him, and just smiled. For a moment, it felt like she wasn't being looked at, but instead, just, invited. He looked at her for more than the scrutinizing tabloids, the invasive paparazzi photos, and the drama of her private life. Instead, he truly just wanted to introduce a friend to his favorite fast food. Something in her chest loosened, quiet and unnameable, but just present enough to notice.
"...I guess we do."
"I knew we should've ordered more," Michael nodded thoughtfully.
Camille laughed, really laughed this time, her shoulders bouncing as she bent at the hips. She shook her head, still smiling as she leaned back into the seat. Michael laughed with her, but watching her more than the joke. He noticed this laugh, the one in the back of a car talking about fried chicken, sounded nothing like the faux laugh he'd hear at parties. This one lingered longer; reaching all the way up to the corners of her eyes, slightly wrinkling them.
A quick knock at the glass of the driver's door interrupted their laughter. Vincent pulled the door open, both large paper bags tucked under his arms, the cold December air rushing into the car, carrying the scent of warm biscuits, pepper, and grease. The gleam from outside the restaurant window caught the steam rising from the bags, reflecting a golden glow across the snow for a moment.
Vincent handed the bags to Michael in the back, but paused for a second before he did, glancing between the two of them. Five minutes ago, they'd left enough space for a third person in between them. Neither of them remembered moving, yet somehow, the invisible line between them had snapped.
Vincent climbed back into the driver's seat, shutting the door. The rush of the winter air quickly gave way to the warmth trapped inside the car. He started the car, the orange overhead light quickly dying. He glanced back through the rearview mirror.
"So," he acknowledged. "Where are you eating this?"
Michael didn't hesitate. "34-12 36th street."
Vincent nodded, pulling out of the parking spot.
"Got it."
Camille looked over to Michael. "You're not going to tell me where we're going, are you?"
Michael smiled back, his eyes softening. "It's a surprise."
She held his gaze before a quick laugh escaped. "Alright," she nodded.
Camille settled in her seat, the paper bag of records was now sitting on the floor, replaced by the large bag of the food. Outside, the city blurred in streaks of gold beyond the window.
Strangely, she couldn't remember the last time she was content with not knowing what was next.

and so, the goddess turns to face Cyrus. hands drift low until they can draw them up to cradle, soothe, as if he were about to impart a hard truth to the other that might require Saint to soften the blow with gentle strokes along the bones and the veins of his sweet giant's hands. blinking , obsidian lashes framed the apples of his cheeks, fluttering ever so cutely. ruby eyes through the dark shroud of lashes raised up to meet the glassy, milky single and that clear teal stare of Cyrus’.

Part 1 Part 7
By the time the movie was over I was still holding half a slice of pie, while Dean had already eaten his along with chips, a candy bar and two pops. I didn’t know where he put it but he seemed happy enough.
“You want to watch something else?” He asks me.
I shrug and smile.
“Or do you want to do something else?” He asks his green eyes, meeting mine.
It was an innocent enough question but it somehow sent heat throughout my body.
I shrug not having an answer for that. My cheeks heat up as I drop my gaze from his to the half eaten dessert in my lap. Dean follows my line of sight with a soft smile on his face.
"Are you going to finish that?"
I shrug again, making him chuckle.
"Do you want to finish it?"
I shake my head not hungry.
"Okay. Then don't eat it." He says smiling sweetly.
I smile back picking up the package and handing it to him.
He takes it from me and places it next to him, a yawn leaving his mouth.
He looks at the clock on his laptop scratching his stubble covered jaw.
"How is it already 3AM?" He says more to himself I think.
But I shrug just in case he's talking to me.
Running his hand down his face he yawns again laying his head back on the wall.
"Shit." He says scratching his cheek this time.
"I got a meeting in four hours." He says closing his eyes.
I chew my lip feeling back feeling like I was the one keeping him up.
Opening his eyes he turns to face me, his head still on the wall.
"I should probably just stay up, huh?"
I shrug earning a crooked smile.
"Yes or no please." He says, looking at me.
I chew my lip and shrug again not knowing how to answer that.
Lifting his hand he gently pushes my hair out of my face.
"Get four hours of sleep or stay up?"
Biting my lip holding up four fingers hoping he knew what I was saying.
"You're probably right. Sammy will be pissed at me if I mess up another deal."
I wrinkle my forehead wanting to know what he was talking about but I wasn't going to ask even if I could.
"I will admit I was a bit distracted last time. I was worried about you." He says closing his eyes.
I look at the side profile of him. It is just as perfect as the front of him. Men like him are only excited in movies or books. His jaw line would make the gods jealous. His lips were perfect and his eyes somehow made you feel safe and turned on at the same time. I don't think I ever felt this way about anyone. In just the few days I've spent with him I felt like I knew about him more than I ever knew about anyone. He didn't seem to hide himself and that was something I realized was what I always wanted. I wasn't going to admit it because then it would be true but I found myself wanting to be closer to him. Closer than what I'm sure he wanted to be with me.
I blush when a soft snore leaves his mouth. I wondered how long I sat there staring at him. I could have checked the clock but I was too embarrassed so I just closed his laptop.
I started to get out of the bed leaving him to sleep but when he took in a deep breath a soft groan leaving his mouth I stopped. Scared I woke him. I peek up at him seeing his emerald eyes on me.
"Where ya going?" He asks his voice husky with sleep.
I blush and smile softly.
"I'll walk you back to your room." He says moving to get out of bed.
I shake my head holding my hand up to stop him.
He does stop him looking at me.
I pat the bed telling him to sleep.
"You want to stay here?" He asks, wrinkling his forehead.
My stomach flipped at the sight. Him cute when he was confused. I blush remember him saying the same thing about me.
I shake my head pointing at him. I pat the bed, then point to myself and towards the door.
"Okay." He says yawning.
Scratches the back of his head he lays on the wall once again. When he snores again I think he might not even be awake.
Smiling softly I slowly stand up. Easing his laptop off his lap I lay it on his desk. Picking up my shoes I quietly sneak out of his room. I walk back to my own, closing the door behind me I lay down on my bed. A smile stays on my face as I slowly fade to sleep reminding myself of when I was a teenager.
I wake up to a soft knock. My mind and body are still always expecting an attack. I jump sitting straight up.
My eyes snap to the door seeing Dean gently opening it.
"Sorry, you can go back to sleep. I just wanted to tell you I'm leaving."
I nod a frown coming to my face before I can stop it. Not wanting him to leave. It is a new feeling for me. I normally didn’t care if I was alone.
“You okay Sophia?” He asks, looking at me his brow wrinkled in worry.
I smile at him and nod.
“You wanna come with me?” He asks, making me look up at him with surprise.
He smiles at what I’m guessing is my reaction.
“You can go. But we got to leave now so we can stop and get you something to wear.” He says gently.
I looked down at the clothes I put on what felt like days ago but was only yesterday. I should tell him no but I wanted to be around him. To spend more time with him.
I throw my legs off the bed quickly slipping on my shoes. I move into the bathroom, closing the door. I use it and brush my teeth and hair. Coming out only a few minutes later.
“Come on kitten.” He says holding his hand out towards me.
I smile and take it, him pulling me down the hallway. Dean lets go of my hand when we get into the car, making me feel sad for some reason.
I enjoyed the feel of his palm pressed against mine.
He pulls his phone from the pocket of his suit and presses a button then holds it to his ear.
“Yeah it’s me.” He says when the person picks up.
“I’m gonna be a bit late.”
“No, I didn’t oversleep. I got something to do first.” He says, making me feel guilty, I know that something was me.
“I’ll be there in thirty just show her your puppy dog eyes and we’ll be fine.”
“Yeah yeah.” He says ending the call and putting his phone away.
He glances over at me then back at the road.
“Why the long face sweetheart?” He asks like I would give in answer.
Sighing I shrug. Hating it more and more that I couldn’t talk. I open my mouth to try nothing but hot air coming out.
“Do you still have stuff back at your ex’s?” He surprised me with the question.
I look over at him and shake my head. Harry threw out about everything I owned or letting his girlfriend have it.
“So we are going to need to take you shopping.”
I shake my head not wanting him to do that. I already owned him enough.
“Relax Kitten let me spoil you.” He says winking at me, it makes me blush and look down.
I hear him chuckle his hand moving over to gently pat my knee. The blush grows when his large hand stays there, his thumb apsmindingly stroking my leg.
He does it the whole way to the store. It is a small clothing store downtown. He pulls into a parking space on the street in front of it then turns off the car.
“Do you want to come in with me?”
I nod and get out of the car.
He does the same walking around it and placing his hand on the middle of my back. A bell rings over my head as we walk in the smell of fresh flowers and money filling my nose.
It didn’t take two seconds to realize this place was going to cost more than I’ve ever made in my life.
“Dean darling, look at you.” Says an older red haired woman behind the counter. Her Scottish accent the first thing I notice.
“It’s been too long dearie.” She says walking up to us.
“Nice to see you too Rowena.” Dean says smiling at her.
“Well, don't be rude, introduce your friend.” She says looking over at me.
Despite the out of place feeling I had in my gut she looked at me as if I was dressed just as nice as Dean. As if I belonged on his arm.
“This is Sophia.” He says introducing me.
“Sophia? Beautiful name. So what can I do for you two?” She asks looking back at Dean.
“She needs an outfit for a business meeting that I should be at right now so if you could work your magic that would be awesome.” He says firmly.
“Of course dear.” She says poking his nose, making him wrinkle it.
“Come on sweetie.” She says looking over at me.
I freeze in place looking at Dean. I suddenly felt very alone. I couldn’t talk. The only one seeming to understand me was Dean.
“Only ask her yes or no questions. She's still too frightened to talk.”
“Frightened?” She asks looking from him to me and then back at him.
“Long story.”
“Very well, we can get you dressed up either way.” She says walking towards the right side of the shop which was women's clothes.
I follow behind her as Dean goes to sit down on one of the couches next to the dressing room. I can’t help the Pretty Woman vibe I get from this but it doesn't play out at all like that. Instead she takes my measurements frowning when she looks at them.
“You are far too thin dearie.” She says then helps me get dressed.
I got dressed in a simple black pencil skirt, a blue button up and a black blazer.
All I could think about was how I was going to fall and break something with the three inch heels she put on me. She pulled my hair up into a clip letting a few strands fall around my face and put a coat of mascara on my eyelashes.
“There you go dear your right as rain now.” Rowena says smiling at me.
I smile back at her and nod. Despite never really dressing like this I felt like myself.
I turn around to face Dean wanting his reaction. He was leaning back on the couch, his right foot resting on his left knee. His arms out to each side of him. Him dressed in business casual. I felt my body heat up just looking at him. It only grew worse when his green eyes looked me up and down and a smirk played on his lips.
“Perfect.” He says smiling up at me.
I smile back at him and look down over myself. I definitely felt better then I have in months.
“Well we better go.” Dean says pushing himself up and walking over to me.
He stood over me long enough to grab my hand then turned towards Rowena.
“You have her measurements pick her out a couple things I’ll come get them after work.”
“Very well.” She says shooing him with her hand, a soft smile playing on her lips.
He smiles at her and pulls me back out towards the car.
We didn’t ride very far, only a few blocks over Dean pulled into a garage and parked the car. He got out and was walking around to my side before I even knew what was going on.
Opening the door for me he held out his hand helping me get to my feet.
“This should only take an hour or so then we can go get some food.” He says making me smile.
He always seemed hungry or maybe he just wanted me to eat more.
He led me towards the elevator, stepping inside. My stomach flips feeling Dean place his hand on my lower back.
“You look nice.” He says making me blush and look at the ground.
“I’m gonna have to teach you how to take a compliment.” He jokes making me bite my lip and look up at him.
I nod wishing he would do that. I watch his eyes darken slightly then looking me up and down.
“There is a lot I would love to teach you.” He says his voice deeper. It makes heat settle in my lower stomach.
I bite my lip, wondering how he could have such an effect on my body. My breath catches in my throat as he takes a step closer to me. He lifts his hand gently grabbing my chin tilting my head back to look up at him. I barely notice my back being pressed into the wall as his other hand comes to rest next to my head. Him keeping me in place.
I take a deep breath watching as his tongue runs over his lip. Them curving into a smirk. My heart pounds in my chest as he leans closer. His mouth only an inch from mine.
I practically groan when a faint ding sounds. Dean does groan, him dropping his head.
Sighing, he lifts it back up and takes a step away from me.
“Saved by the bell huh?” He asks looking at me.
I’m sure I was frowning because he smiles softly. Lifting his hand he gently brushes his knuckles over my cheek.
“I’ll make it up to you.” He says leaning forward and kissing the top of my head.
It wasn’t at all what I wanted but it would have to do. Well I would have to live with it.
Placing his hand on my lower back he smoothly leads me through the twist and turns of the office building.
The comfort feeling I had all day quickly flew out the window as we passed by women and men who looked at me like I had three heads. Their eyes bouncing from Dean to me then back again.
I knew what they were thinking. I would be thinking the same thing I’m sure. Me and Dean were totally opposites. I didn’t belong on Dean’s arm. Even though I was dressed nice that didn’t hide the fact that we came from different lives.
‘Or did we?’
I couldn't help but look up at him as we walked. He greeted everyone he made eye contact with. He spoke kindly to others. He didn’t act like he was better than others. But he carried himself like he was the boss. He had a demeanor about him that made you trust him.
‘Was that what I was doing?’
No, Dean has taken care of me and has done nothing to make me distrust him. But I still couldn’t help but wonder about his past. Where he came from, how did he get to this point in his life? My mind was suddenly filling with questions I never thought of before.
“Sorry I’m late.” Dean says as we walk into a conference room.
It was like anything I guess, a large table with a bunch of chairs. A screen at the end of the room, windows lining both the right and left walls. It lets in light and lets who ever walked pass be able to see inside.
There were only two other people in the room. Sam and a brunette woman. Both of them sat at the end of the table with a few papers scattered out.
“Well what else would we expect from the playboy. I see you are now bringing dates to work.” The brunette says an english accent rolling off her tongue.
“Shut up Bella.” Dean says, making me look at him.
This the first time I have ever heard him say a harsh word. Well expect when he talked to Harry that didn’t count.
He pulls out a chair for me which I smile at him as I take. Him sitting next to me and turning to face them.
“Hello Sophia.” Sam says smiling kindly at me.
I smile and wave back.
“So what did I miss?” Dean asks, his hand falling on my knee. The other holding his head up.
Even though he has done that before I would have to admit it felt different when his warm skin touched my exposed knee.
“Sam and I were just discussing some of those lovely trinkets you have for sale.” Bella says, smirking at Dean.
It wasn’t a flirty smirk, more like a cocky one.
“Oh and what exactly were you willing to give for them?” Dean asks his thumb gently stroking my bare leg.
I take a breath and look at him then at Sam and Bella trying to focus on what they were talking about.
I knew I wouldn’t be involved in the conversation but I still wanted to know what was going on.
“It’s not me that’s buying. You know how this goes, I get things from you for my clients.”
“Look Bella I already told you the price. Take it or leave it.” Sam says letting out a sigh.
“Well Sam we both know that you're asking about one million too many.” She says, making me almost choke on air.
I had no idea what they were talking about but what the heck did they own that cost that much money? These boys dressed in jeans and flannel every day.
“Bella you know how this is gonna go. You remember the last time you tried to steal or dube us out of what you owed. Just pay the piper or sweeten the deal.” Dean says making my head hurt.
I was so confused.
She lets out a huff and starts digging through the papers.
“Fine but I want something else added for that price.”
“Oh yeah what’s that?” Sam asks, making me look over at him fixing his tie.
“I need an invite.”
“An invite?” Dean asks.
“Yes, your little friend Crowley has something I want but won’t meet with me.” She says mentioning the guy I met the first time I woke up at Dean’s house.
“And you want me or Dean to invite you to his club?” Sam says making me wonder if he was talking about the club me and Dean talked about.
‘Why would she want to go there?’ I think chewing on my lip.
I was definitely over my head in this conversation but I wasn’t about to stop listening.
“Well a member has to speak for me.”
“Fine, you got a deal.”
“Hold up Sammy. You don’t want to know what she wants with the owner of Hell?” Dean asks, holding his hand up, stopping his little brother.
“No not really.”
“Well I do. Spill it.” Dean says locking his eyes on Bella.
Sighing she bends over picking up her purse from the floor. She pulls out a picture of what I think is a whisky bottle.
“Booze? You want to go to a dungeon for booze?” Dean asks, sounding unimpressed.
“It’s only made and sold in a tiny area on the north tip of Caithness County. It’s expanse and hard to find. It happens to be Crowley’s favorite drink so he keeps plenty around. One of my clients is willing to pay good money for just one bottle so yes Dean, I want to go to a BDSM club for booze.” She says galring like he was an idiot.
“Alright fair enough. I’ll let him know your coming.”
“Lovely. Now who do I write this check to?”
“We can finish up in my office.” Sam says standing up.
“Perfect.” She says standing up and following him out the door.
As soon as it closed Dean turned to face me.
“Now that that is over do you want to grab some breakfast?” He asks sweetly.
I smile and nod at him, that sounding nice. I notice that this is the first time I wanted food in what seemed like a long time.
“Awesome there is a little cafe just down the street I’m sure you’ll like.” He says standing up.
Just like before he led me towards the elevator with his hand on my back.
I felt my pace quicken as we stepped into it. The events that happened last time are still fresh in my mind.
Sadly when another man got inside with us through my hopes right out the window. My hopes of what? I didn’t know exactly. I just knew I wanted to feel the same way I felt before.
The pounding heart and flushed cheeks sent a high I’ve never felt till I met Dean Winchester. I couldn’t help but think about the things we've talked about. I couldn’t help but to think about what it would be like if we didn’t get interrupted. What would have happened?
Would he have kissed me? Would he have done more than kiss me? How far would it have gone? Surely not that far. So why was my mind going to that?
By the time we reached the car I felt hot all over again from just thinking about it. I may not have been a virgin but I was definitely thinking new thoughts. Ones that might seem normal to others but to me seemed sinful in the best way.
“Are you alright?” Dean’s deep voice pulls me back to reality.
We were walking out of the garage and onto the sidewalk of the busy downtown street.
I nod and smile up at him, my face hot.
He lifts an eyebrow giving me a crooked smile in return.
“Really? Because you are as red as a tomato.”
I bite my lip and drop my eyes to my heeled covered feet.
“Tsk tsk eyes up here please.” Dean says making my stomach swirl.
I lift my head to look at him, his green eyes meeting mine.
“Does that red face have anything to do with what happened in the elevator?” He asks casually.
To the people walking past this would sound normal but it was far from normal. Wasn’t it?
I nod blushing.
He takes a step closer to me, making me take a breath, the smell of him wrapping around me.
“Are you wanting to do that again?” He asks gently, taking my head in between his hands.
“I don’t want you to answer me. Think about it. Really think about it. Because I don’t quit once I start something I finish it. So please Sophia when you are sure, tell me.” He says dropping his hands and taking a step back.
“Now let's go eat.” He says smiling.
I remember the first thought I had about him. About him being bipolar I just saw it again. How could he go from serious to smiling?
We walked a few more steps then Dean’s phone started ringing. He stopped to answer it. I could tell by the way he tensed up that something was wrong.
“On my way.” He says hanging up the phone.
“That son of a bitch.” He mumbles to himself.
I reach up and touch his shoulder making him turn to look at me.
“I need to get back to the office.” He says running his hand down his face.
“But I need to get you home.” He says, sighing.
“Crap.” He says looking around.
I frown, not used to seeing him upset. I softly touch his arm making his head snap up and look at me.
“What is Sophia?”
I open my mouth but nothing comes out. Sighing I point to my clothes making him wrinkle his face.
I point towards the way of the shop then grab my clothes again.
“You want to go stay with Rowena?” He asks confused.
I nod and smile.
“Okay, yeah that’ll work. I will come pick you up. Let me tell Sam I’m giving you a ride-.” He says digging out his phone.
I cut him off touching his hands.
I use two fingers moving them like legs.
“You're not walking.” He says firmly.
I can’t respond when his phone rings again.
“Damn it.” He says looking at it.
“Okay fine but do you know how to get there?” He asked, looking at me worried.
I nod and smile, having a rough idea.
“Go straight there get Rowena to call me when you get there.” He says rushing off towards his office building.
With each step he takes I feel fear and worry creep into my mind but I push it down.
I couldn’t really hang around his work all day and I was an adult. I could walk a few streets over. I chew my lip and start heading in the directions I think it is. I wrap my arms around myself feeling my heart race and my breathing pick up.
I was without a phone and in a place I wasn’t used to. I tried not to stop just pushing one foot in front of the other.
I took what I thought was the right street. Trying to remember if we turned left or right at each light. It took longer than what it should have but I found the store within a few hours.
I was tired and feeling frayed as I walked inside. My feet throb and I just wanted to drop to the floor.
“-Oh she just walked in.” Says Rowena behind the counter holding a phone to her ear.
“She looks fine. I’ll ask her. Are you alright dearie?” She asks looking at me.
I nod and smile at her. I was going out of my mind with panic but I didn’t get bothered on my walk so that was a plus.
I move to sit on the couch Dean sat on before taking a much needed breath. There were a few other people in the store giving me weird looks but I barely noticed. I was trying not to cry or scream.
“Here dearie he wants to talk to you.” Rowena says holding her cell phone out to me.
I smile up at her and take it from her.
“D-Dean?” I say, pushing his name out through my teeth. My vocal cords hurt the moment I use them.
But still I smile when I do it glad it wasn’t a fluke.
“You had me worried Sophia.” He says his voice breathy like he was holding his breath till he heard from me.
I smile and blush what he said.
I try to open my mouth again but nothing comes out making me frown.
“I’ll be there to get you soon. Why don’t you look at some clothes to kill time. Rowena says she already has some things picked out for you.”
I nod my head but feel stupid as soon as I do it. He couldn’t see me.
“See you soon Kitten.”
Smiling, I hand the phone back to Rowena. She smiles at me and takes the phone speaking into it as she walks back to the counter.
She returns a moment later, her gracefully sitting next to me.
“Well dearie, believe we have an hour or two to spend some Winchester money.” She says grinning.
I’m shocked when a giggle leaves my mouth. It is the first time I have heard myself laugh. I didn’t even know if I could anymore.
I grin widely and nod my head excited.
“Oh goodie.” She says jumping up.
“Now where to start?” She asks looking around the cloth covered walls.
She looks down at me, her eyes looking me up and down.
“Dean said you needed a bit of everything so I guess we start with the basics.” She says motioning for me to follow her.
I got up frowning as pins and needles shot through my feet.
“Oh feel free to kick those heels off sweetie we are not gonna need them.” She says smiling.
I return the smile and do as she says my feet feeling instantly better as I place my barefoot on the cool wooden floor.
I follow her quite surprised when she leads me to dare I say the lingerie section. She giggles at what I’m guessing is my jaw on the floor.
“Relax we are just getting what you need, nothing crazy. Unless you are into that.” She says holding up a silk thong.
I shake my head not at all into wearing this kind of stuff.
“Well what is it you like?” She asks.
I point to the simple boy shorts.
“These are cute but a bit boring. I think you would look amazing in these.” She says holding up boy shorts but they were a baby pink with lace covering them.
I have to admit that they are cute.
“Plus they come with a matching top.” She says holding up the matching bra.
It was the same baby pink and lace but the lace came down making what I’m sure what some woman would wear as a crop top.
Biting my lip I nod.
“Lovely, do you want to get one each color? We can get some simple one for that dreadful time of the month, but everyone should have something that makes her feel pretty.” She says putting the items into a large bag hanging off her elbow like I said yes.
She clearly knows my size as she grabs the pink pair, along with the white, red, and blue one.
I chew my lip knowing that this couldn’t be cheap. She rattles off stuff that makes me feel overwhelmed, throwing questions at me that I didn’t even bother to try and answer.
I couldn’t help but to let my mind wander from what she was saying, in turn letting my eyes wonder.
“Do you want that?” Rowena asks, pulling me from what I was looking at.
It was a nude pj set. It was silk shorts and a tank top.
I shake my head just thinking about how I would freeze in that.
“Well what kind of sleepwear do you like?” She asks as we walk over to the different options.
I pick up a thin black long sleeved shirt with a hood.
“Dear that is not sleepwear.”
I shrug and set it back down, sighing.
“But if that is what you like we will get it. These should look nice with it.” She says picking up a cotton pair of leggings.
I smile at her, as she helps me get a few different versions to sleep in. Along with some casual everyday wear. She was not at all surprised when I just picked out jeans and T-shirts. She joked that I didn’t have to dress like Dean just because he was paying.
I smiled at the joke but it made me feel bad knowing I was racking up a hefty bill.
When a ding rings out I lift my head to see Dean walking through the door. I roll my eyes at myself when I realize I smile as soon as I know it’s him.
“Ladies.” He greets walking up to us.
He seemed normally expect for the tenseness in his shoulders and his clenched fists. Rowena quickly went into a talking fit her not noticing it. I guess most people wouldn’t. But I did. Living with Harry’s abuse I got good at reading people’s body language.
At the moment I could tell something was bothering Dean. The only thing I hope has nothing to do with me.
His green eyes look over meeting mine making me drop my head and blush.
“Are you ready to go home?” He asked calmly.
Looking back up at him I open my mouth only a small noise coming out it not making a word at all.
Dean grins making me blush more.
“I’ll take that as a yes. Is all her things ready to go?” He asks Rowena as he gently takes my hand.
“Of course I’ll have someone bring them out to the car for you.” She says walking over to the counter.
“Perfect we will wait out there then.”
She waves her hand as if to say go ahead, her writing something down in the book in front of her.
Dean smiles at me tilting his head towards the door.
“Ready?”
I nod and smile more than ready to go. I had enough social interaction for one day. Dean leads me to the door only stopping long enough for me to slip my heels back on.
Once outside he walks me towards his car and holds the car door open for me. I smile as my thanks as I get inside. Dean then walks around the front of the car getting in behind the wheel.
I smile at him earning one back.
“You're getting better at talking I see.” He says kindly.
I shrug and blush not knowing what to say even if I could say it.
“That’s good. I want you to keep trying okay? I’ll be sure to give you a reward for your efforts.”
I cock my head to the side wondering what he meant by that. Also wondering what kind of reword. How could you reward someone for talking?
He smiles lifting his hand up to softly touch my face. His thumb brushing my cheek gently.
“Don’t worry I would let you choose it of course.”
I smile and lean into his hand closing my eyes as I enjoyed his touch. I wanted to ask him about his day if his problem got solved. But that was one to many words. I was barely saying his name.
I open my eyes as the realization hits me. His name. I could say his name so why couldn’t I say anything else? His name was simply four letters so I should be able to say other four letter words right?
“Are you okay?” Dean asks as I pull away from him.
I started to nod my head but decided against it. Instead I open my mouth determined to say something. Anything.
“Sophia, don't try so hard. I don’t want you to hurt yourself.” He says softly.
A soft tap comes from the window. A well dressed man standing there holding an armful of bags.
“I’ll be right back.” Dean says getting out of the car and walking to the back of it.
As I hear him opening the trunk I once again try to speak.
Practices made perfect right?
I gently reach up and touch my throat as if that would magically make me start talking again. I close my eyes focusing on one word. When that doesn't work I focus on just one letter. Sounding it out and rolling it over my tongue.
I get so wrapped up in what I’m doing I jump when Dean opens the door.
“Y-y-yes.” I croke out. It was broken and sounding horrible but it was a word.
“Yes what?” Dean says as he climbs inside.
He stops and looks at me, hope in his eyes.
“Did you just say yes?”
I nod grinning.
“Say it again.” He says smiling.
“Y-yes.” I say through gritted teeth.
I smile brightly, Dean matching it.
“That’s so good Sophia.”
Without thinking I throw my arms around him excitedly. Before I have time to get embarrassed Dean returns the hug pulling me close to him. I take a deep breath, breathing in the scent of him. Cinnamon and leather.
Pulling away from me just enough I opened the eyes I didn’t know I closed looking up at him through my eyelashes. I watch him lick his bottom lip, it makes my stomach flip.
Taking in a shaking breath I tighten my grip on his shirt as his hand runs up my side, stopping when he reaches my face.
I don’t fight him as he tilits my head back making me look up at him. His hooded eyes fall to my mouth making me glup.
His name falls from my mouth as a breathless sound, it makes an almost growl leave his. I gasp as he pulls my face to his, our lips crashing into each other.
My eyes close as I melt into his touch. His warm grip holds onto my face as his soft lips work against mine.
Despite the heat building in my veins his kiss was gentle. Him slowly coaching me on what exactly to do. He drags his tongue slowly across my bottom lip. It seems to burn in the best way.
I wrap my arms around his neck, him pulling me closer so our chests are pressed into each other.
Despite him licking my lip he doesn't deepen the kiss. I’m shocked by the shiver that runs through me when his fingers dance over my throat before moving to tangle in my hair. I do the same to him, my body growing warm with each passing second.
I push closer to him a soft whine leaving my throat. Wanting him more than I’ve wanted anything in a long time.
My heart drops when he pulls away from me a frown painting my face.
“Relax kitten. We’ve got time.” He says breathless.
I blush at his remark, it deepens when I realize his top buttons are undone on his shirt making me wonder when I did that.
He smiles sweetly then presses a soft kiss to my forehead.
“Let’s go home. We have some things to talk about.”
Nodding I couldn’t agree more.
Starting the car he takes my hand and heads towards home. So many new thoughts swirling around in my head, and going off Dean’s hand placed high up on my thigh he was probably thinking the same thing.
honestly i really like the fact that amira and mohammed have only just met a month ago and that they’ve not known each other for years simply because this way we can actually get to know him at the same time that amira does
right now we see him flirt and look extremely good but we don’t really know what his deal is yet but we’re slowly learning small things about him JUST like amira and i love being this far in her pov tbh
