Receding Gums is a common dental condition in adults. The recession of tissues that surround the gums exposes root of the tooth. This can lead to weakening, decay and loss of tooth.

Receding Gums can be arrested with a technique called as Oil Pulling. To do Oil Pulling you have to take a teaspoon of cold pressed virgin Sesame or Coconut oil and swish it inside the mouth for 5 to 10 minutes every morning. The oil mixes with saliva and pulls out impurities in oral and nasal cavity. The liquid becomes thin and white after 5 minutes of vigorous swishing inside the mouth. You have to spit the liquid out. After spitting the liquid, rinse your mouth thoroughly and brush your teeth with regular toothpaste and toothbrush. Oil Pulling strengthens the gums. You will feel the difference from the day one. You will notice stronger gums and whiter teeth within a month of starting this practice.
The most common cause of Receding Gums is deficiency of Vitamin C. Vitamin C is required for formation and maintenance of collagen. The collagen in the gums is responsible for adhesive bonding between the gums and the teeth. Your daily diet must include Vitamin C rich foods. Lemon Water, Citrus Fruits, Bell Peppers, Grapefruit, Amla (Indian Gooseberry), Pineapple, Guava, Tomatoes are some of the natural sources of Vitamin C. You can choose sources native to your land. The individuals who are in advanced stage of Gum Recession can also start with a Vitamin C supplement. However, it is always better to consume natural sources of Vitamin C.
