If the question had come from Ty Lee, or Zuko maybe, Azula would’ve crossed it as an attempt to make the telling more interesting. Coming from Mai though, she wondered if the woman was worried over her ability, or Azula’s, to make it to the end.

Yet, they were in it already, so they might as well finish it. “Of course, I asked for it, didn’t I? What happened in the Boiling Rock after I left?”

If there was one thing she could appreciate from the phlegmatic knife-thrower, it was her bluntness. For most, people such behaviour would’ve been viewed as rude, or even insensitive. But amongst her sibling’s friends, Mai has always been the one she confided in with the most. Perhaps it was because they were kindred spirits, or they’re similar upbringing, but regardless of what it was, despite everything that has happened to them since Ember Island, Boiling Rock and Sozin’s Comet, the two girls... now women could talk as though it was just like yesterday. These was one of those moments.  “You and I both have very different understandings of ‘moving on’. ” She replies simply, another thing she can acknowledge Mai on; being able to be blunt herself, and not be questioned or pestered for it. “But yes, thank you, it is quite... liberating. ”
