I Can’t Help Falling In Love

Izzy was caught off guard by his words. She had been spending some of her ‘off’ days with him. His story intrigued her. He was also still very attached, for the lack of a better word, to  her best friend. She was telling herself that it was to keep an eye on him. To keep Clary safe.However, she too was developing feelings for him the more she got to know him.

“I hope this is not some scheme to get me to lower my defenses.” She watched a couple walk by holding hands.

As soon as the words left his mouth, Jonathan's heart skipped a beat and his entire being simply... froze. He hadn't meant to say it - sure, he had been thinking it, and he had been watching her do whatever it was that she was doing. Truthfully, he couldn't say what it was that she had been so preoccupied with, but there was something about her face, about the way her eyes were focused on her task at hand.

She was always at her most beautiful when her mind was working.

“Even I wouldn’t stoop so low,” Jonathan said. “And love isn’t a word I like to throw around lightly - it’s an important word.”

Shaking his head, Alec let out a scoff. “Lucky? I almost married Lydia because I was so blind to see what was in front of me.” He laughed at the memory. “It took Magnus crashing the wedding for me to realize my feelings.” Alec shrugged. “I know the right guy is out there for you. You, Isabelle Lightwood.. you are gorgeous. The idiot who made you doubt you are capable of that kind of love. I should put them in their place.” He narrowed his eyes slightly before sighing, Kissing the top of her head. Alec wrapped his arm around his sister.

It wasn’t that he meant to but with the stress of things; didn’t think of wearing gloves or wrapping his hands. So the smear of blood on the punching bag is what ended up making him stop. He couldn’t feel the pain of it. Cradling his hand to inspect the damage. 

Hearing his sister’s footsteps took an deep breath, “What’s up?” Angling his hand to rest at his side without showing.

It’s been several hard days, emotionally taxing in a way Alec had not known before. In these days he had to force himself to eat that that was something he was not used to in the slightest. Magnus at one point basically forced Alec to eat.  Well it was less an actual forcing, but more a placing of food Alec liked right in front of him with a gentle “Eat.”. And he eventually did. 

Alec knew he was not the only one who needed some kind of calm so he made one of the teas he had gotten to know in Japan and carried it to his sisters room. Kicking the door open, he balanced the tea inside. A smile was not the place right now so he simply came closer.

“I thought it is time for us to take a moment to relax.”

“I was actually looking for your brother-.” Start attempting to apologize; not that it would really help his guilt or grief. “Now that I recall it’s his day off, probably bad timing.” Only knew because of Magnus’ vague mention of it the night before. Putting his hands into his pockets as thought silently. 

“But I have been meaning to talk to you, too so-.”

They all knew there was risks associated with the work that the Silent Brothers did and they knew that not everyone who went there for treatment would come back. Most did, of course, but there were always those who never did and they were the ones that he was certain his sister was worried about. What other choice did he have? The Clave wasn't about to let him out of the Institute until they could be certain the Owl had been completely incinerated from his body. And Jace knew that they couldn't be certain until he went through whatever treatments the Silent Brothers had in mind. He could admit he was scared. But not with Izzy there. She was his sister and she'd already seen the worse. He couldn't let her see even more of himself. "And no, you can't change it, Iz."

Celestial Dramatics

Lucifer walked away, not for the first time, frustrated with his brother Amenadiel. Family drama always ended up a life or death issue and he did his best to compartmentalize it for the moment. He needed a drink, and strolled into a nearby bar. 

It wasn’t anything fancy, but it wasn’t a dive either, and Lucifer felt more at home when he ordered a triple of the top shelf whiskey, and sat down with the glass tumbler.
